I have loved this man as a writer, guitarist and singer for years but for some reason never looked into his solo stuff much. I downloaded his discography a couple years ago and, honestly, I sort of wish I hadn't.
I love him, but the vast majority of it sounds very thrown together and it makes him seem a lot worse than he is. There are a few gems in there, though. Just, I dunno, I was expecting to be impressed.

John was pretty much their sound. The periods after he left were their blandest periods. Their new album has an okay sort of sound to it, but it isn't their sound IMO.

Not really, it was a mix of the 3 guys and they all brought something different. Like bassist guy was responsible for the funky/tribal/punkish sound.

Also, his solo albums when he was still on H back in 90's were pretty crazy. Check out Enter a Uh, he's just fucking around on guitar and making horrific painful noises

I've never listened to him but I did hear him talk about life right next to a tree for about 45 minutes, but anyways…I found a record of his (Murderers) in my sample folder and was loving it up until the drums fucked everything up.
If only john and flea had cooled down, sat down together, wrote decent songwriters songs. Maybe get josh to sing the parts, chad to drum very accordingly. They're so painstakingly having to be so very original artiste nonsense. Sad guys really.
