Amazing in every sense. A personal favourite.
The interplay between all 4 players (5 instruments including Verlaine's vocals), the carefree feeling of the melodies, fillers and lyrics, while still being very adventurous, and the great pacing of the songs are some of the reasons it stands as one of the times Pop music deserved to be taken in account despite it's level of cultural significance.
Also, extra points for being a Post-Punk album, the same year that punk went big.

Punk is kind of anti-intellectual, but how is post-punk in any way?

It's been my favorite album ever for awhile and I think it might be the best rock music ever made.
It's absolutely amazing from start to finish, not even mentioning how fantastic little Johnny jewel and untitled instrumental are along with the other bonus tracks.
