Real Estate is jangle pop. No shoegaze aspects really... they did have some reverb on the first album but that's about it. Otherwise, their guitar and drums sound very tight and reminiscent of R.E.M

yep, though I had that image in my mind even before I saw that. thought it had winter wonderland in it for some reason though.
sung tongs is one of the few albums that produces a clear mental image like that for me. the only other stuff I can think of that does what it does is some boards of canada.
