i can think of a few:
1) being too poor

5) using your amp's OD

really expensive for what they are
all the hardware is bottom of the barrel budget shit but they still charge prices like they are a higher end/more well established Korean guitar

they always redo really cool and esoteric guitars, just wish they were build like 800-1000 dollar guitars instead of 300 dollar ones

hey brothers, electric cello guy here

I want to buy cables for absolutely everything, since I have almost nothing. this means:
>cable from instrument to amp
>cable from amp FX loop send -> pedal
>cables from pedals -> pedals
>cables from pedals -> FX loop return

What kind of cables am I looking for, I don't even know the terminology? like what brand do you recommend?
>>
>>65757059

Anyone? I've never really played a P bass
>>
>>65759223
these are all standard instrument cables
mono 1/4 jacks
that's it
I like planet waves classic or the ones with the golden plug, they're the only ones worth getting in their lineup

>>65759296 this

if the cable is not going to be plugged/unplugged frequently just buy the cheapest you can get
if the cable will be tossed around frequently spend a little extra on something sturdy (pic related go on my gigbag but maybe there are cheaper options for you)
>>
>>65759378
none of those are fancy
those are all cheap right angle jacks that wind up breaking after 1 week
>>
>>65759378
those are 90 degree angle plugs
it's the same cable, but with an angled plug so it fits better on certain instruments and/or pedals

for your pedals, you need patch cables. those are little 1/4 jack cables that usually measure less than a foot and usually come with those plugs pictured. you might wanna check if your pedals have the in/out on the top though, and get a straight angle jack for those.

i'm pretty sure the fx send/return uses 1/4 cables too.
you're welcome m8

do you have a 9v power supply for your pedals too?

No, I assume I will need one? I've only tried stuff out in stores and wasn't paying much attention to the setup
>>
>>65759223
instrument cable is shielded because the signal is really weak and would otherwise pick up a lot of noise. There are patch cables which are just instrument cable in lengths of a few inches to a foot.

Speaker cable is just cable. You could cut any cord in your house and use it as a speaker cable given you attach the plug ends or solder it to a speaker and amp.

ebay has cheap cables. just search instrument or patch cable and add the term "lot" Get like 6 for a twenty.
>>
>>65757524
And they did a pretty good job for a free setup.

Fretboard is clean af now, frets polished, pickup height adjusted, somehow fixed the output jack, electronics aren't buzzy

any suggestions on replacement saddles? (the screws just fell apart on E/A and a thread for the E saddle, when intonating a new set of strings) the shit tier ones from and old pawnshop bass work, and i can get intonation, but i'd like to replace them with something less gawdy, that and i can;t get as low of an action as id want
>>
>>65759792
Why is shielded cable bad for linking an amp to a speaker then? I get that the signal is hot and the shielded cable might take a hit but I don't understand why the amp itself would be at risk.
>>
>>65760470
Because capacitance is a component of impedance. So you're altering the load.

idk what you mean by hot. But the signal driving your speakers has enough current and voltage that from a practical standpoint it is impervious to noise.

Just standard instrument leads. Could use patch leads from pedal to pedal. Buy something you can open and fix yourself or some blank cable and neutrik jacks if you've used a soldering iron before.

I'm struggling a bit as the thngs I'm writing are rally complicated

like, keeping the rhythm and and melody and playing a extended improvisation

AND keeping an audience 'with it' is getting a bit daft

the main thing is people dig it

listening to Wes on Tequila (the album) I can understand the bass more, it's a faint hint for the listener as to what's going on

it's more for the audience really I think, take it away and it is at times total free jazz
>>
Who invented this ''bass is easier than guitar'' meme???? Fuck off and die.

I'd been playing guitar regularly from about 5 years old until 15 without major struggles. Now I'm 20 and I've started getting back into music and picked up the bass recently, and while the stuff I'm playing isn't as technically challenging yet, the stretches you have to do to reach some chords feel like they're tearing muscles in my hand and my right hand is getting blistered all the fucking time.

Anyone really know about tone searching?

I've got a Grandmeister 36, a Traynor 2x12 with Celestion Vintage 30s, a SH2 in the neck and SH4 in bridge. My rhythm sounds fine, but lead stuff sounds honestly kind of weak. Pinch harmonics aren't as screaming as I'd like. Should I start considering an overdrive pedal like Boss's super overdrive, a distortion pedal, or something else?

compressor first. in addition to compression it will give you a boost into your preamp for more drive. it's impossible to oversell the benefits of a compressor, really. after that, overdrive and eq.
