My officemate keeps sending me country songs so he can get me into it. Not classic or very "good" country, more pop-top 40 country. What can I suggest back that may appeal but doesn't blow chunks?

More bluegrass/traditional folk that str8 country. Start with OCMS and Big Iron World, then move onto Tennessee Pusher and Remedy
>Hound Mouth
Indie rock/folk with a southern tinge. Haven't listened to Little Neon Limelight but From The Hills Below The City is great front to back (especially the closer Palmyra)
>The Mountain Goats
Not country but some of his songs use pedal steel and his early stuff is god tier folk. Our generation Bob Dylan except he's actually good.
I mainly listen to punk/hardcore but I listen to all these artists regularly (mountain goats is in my all time top 5 right next to converge)
I recommend Jason Aldean's album entitled "Old Boots, New Dirt"
