How did Michael Gira go from the relative mediocrity and plain-ness of the 80's, and then make an album with musique concrete, ambient, post-rock, etc.?!?! Every time I listen to this album I feel like something fucky happened to them in between because I have no idea how he could have made such a fucking amazing masterwork as this.
Don't tell me fucking SFTB is 2deep4 neo /mu/ for Christ's sake

Listen to it one disc at a time like I do then.
Eh I thought 80's era Swans was pretty innovative and interesting. OP if you haven't listened to Public Castration Is A Good Idea then do that now. It is a live album that captures early era Swans much better than the recorded albums do.

Already heard it newfag, no need to assume I don't know my shit.
>>65681849
The secret is he wasn't trying. He already knew the band will broke up. The fact the record came out this good is almost accidental.
>>65681849
gira has been into experimental music
his 80s output is not as plain as you think
Its some great gothic noise rock with industrial influences.
