What's /mu/'s problem with meme rap? It's definitely a lot better than the shit that comes out now these days.

>It's definitely a lot better than the shit that comes out now these days.
Meme rap is exactly what people mean when they complain about "the shit that comes out these days"
>>65602949
BTI is not meme rap, its a concept album
Camp is meme rap
Im tired of rap music, im tired of it being shoved in my face.
I miss rock music.
YOURE NOT MY REAL DAD!
>>65602949
was this meme rap? i actually really enjoyed this, especially with the screenplay and after watching "clapping for the wrong reasons"
i thought this album was aight
>>65603627
Uh, no nigga. They mean niggas like Future, Young Thug, etc.
>>65604163
Camp was still good though either way.
>>65604193
>>65604368
Same, but /mu/ considers Bino a meme rapper.
>>65604571
>uh no they don't mean meme rap. They mean these meme rap artists.
>>65604657
no those are trap not meme rap
>>65602949
define meme rap please.
>>65604571
Future and Young Thug are fantastic, kill yourself
The word meme rap was invented by mu to mock all rap music because a few years ago people were shitposting nothing but rap music hardcore, i think 4chan got invaded by newfaggots.
Anyways we started calling it meme rap to shit on it.
this was considered meme rap back when /hhg/ was a thing
i'd change G eazy to Immortal technique
>>65605014
jesus, forgot the pic
>>65604571
Meme rap was literally started by a trip who didn't like HH in order to get /mu/ to stop talking about HH.
It has no real definition.
>>65602949
donald glover is a talentless silver spoon prick with yellow fever
>>65604961
>slurring and muttering about lean for 4 minutes
>great
>>65605058
yeah, like I said, it's fantastic
>>65605037
>Talentless
Hate to bring it up, but the dude is an actor, musician, and former comedian.
What are you doing, bud?
>>65605075
And he still can't write a hip-hop album to save his life m8.
And his comedy was pretty bad.
>>65605096

>>65605179
>A lot of people like it.
ah yes, the majorityis always right argument.
Excellent.
>>65605143
bti might have been my least favorite album of 2013
his comedy's fine, he needs to quit the rap shit
>>65605194
when it comes to how successful an artist is objectively, he's got you trumped
whether or not you think he's good childish gambino has been wildly successful in his hip hop career
>>65605224
>has been wildly successful in his hip hop career
That's funny, because he fell right the fuck off after Royalty.
>>65605240
>Fell off
He's just getting more and more popular these days man. I understand you don't like the guy, or what he does, but you're literally ignoring his success.
>>65605288
>I understand you don't like the guy
Quite the opposite.
I'm just calling him mediocre which he is, I liked him in most of Community and I really enjoyed some parts of Camp, especially The Power part 2.
But everything else is meh.
>He's just getting more and more popular
Maybe in your bubble.
>>65605320

>>65605320

>>65605027
this pic sums it up why are ppl arguing
you'll cowards don't even meme rap
>>65605358
because 3 of those guys made at least 1 good album and 1 of those 3 is the future of mainstream hip hop
>>65605176
>I forgot 2013
no, you're just new
Rap's major problem is that it relies on lyrics and vocals way too much. 99% of the stuff that gets produced is eventually going to age hard, new slang becomes popular, hearing the same play on words all the time eventually just gets wearisome, etc. I think thats part of the reason why artists like Young Thug have been so well recieved here, the shift away from lyrical vocals to melodious vocals is shifting hh in the direction it needs to go in
>>65604788
it used to mean "artists who made rap ironically"
examples: lil b, yung lean
now it means "rappers who i don't like who have high ratings on pitchfork"
>>65605030
>HH
Literally who?
>>65607218
hip-hop you dumb faggot
>>65607232
You are the first person I have ever seen on here, or anywhere, call hip-hop HH. Couldn't be bothered to type out the extra 5 characters?
kys faggot
>>65607247
>You are the first person I have ever seen on here, or anywhere, call hip-hop HH.
I highly doubt that
>>65607275
You are wrong to doubt it.
