For their second album, Sean Meadows and Rachel Grimes left The Sonora Pine, presumably to work on their respective projects. TSP was reduced to a trio, but the band enlisted the help of three musicians which help contribute to this excellent piece of gentle post-rock/folk rock. Organist Told Hildreth on track two for this album, accordion player Nora Christensen for tracks 4 and 6, and Noel Brather on Cello for track 7. The result is a more focused, cohesive, and more gentle album than their debut. O'Neil has full vocal duties this time around, her angelic voice weaving songs about desperate longing for change, longing for people, longing to be alone. It's a very sedating album for the most part, with the first six tracks in keeping with that theme of longing. But despite the content of the lyrics some of the songs are actually very groovy. The final track is a bit removed from the first six, as it was composed for drummer Kevin Coultas' mother. It's an eight minute flirtation of light post-rock elements and folk, a wonderful flirtation that has Coultas stepping up to the guitar for a lovely show.

One of the most long-lived and largest fusion jazz groups in Japan along with Cassiopeia (afaik) which pretty much goes totally unnoticed in the west. Finding any of their albums anywhere is extremely hard. Notable for their heavy use of the EWI.

I normally clean my records and get rid of any distracting clicks when I edit them, but I decided to leave them on this album since it can be easily found on Amazon.co.jp (and in better quality, too).
Anyways, some info about the album:
Eiichi Ohtaki was a popular Japanese singer in the 80s, mostly known for creating songs that would easily sound as if you were at the beach or something. One of the albums that he created was "NIAGARA SONGBOOK", an album that contained rearranged orchestral versions of many of his songs from "A Long Vacation" (and some other songs from some other album). Arranged by Akira Inoue.

Vonn is a doom metal/noise act themed around torture. Not especially fun listening, more of a curiosity than anything else. Their first album is on Youtube and not too hard to track down an mp3 of.
Thing is, apparently they have a second album, which was released on some weird-ass Chilean label that hasn't updated their blogspot in five years.
I can find no audio clips of this anywhere, no download links (even dead ones), no one has ever sold a copy anywhere I can check. All I can find is the cover and basic info.
Which makes me wonder if they ever actually distributed any copies of it at all.
