Not to over-tighten my fedora here, but the "big deal" is that Swans albums are a very cohesive journey that feel imperative to listen to from start to finish, at least on the first go. You're getting to hear the first 75% and then you have to stop dead in your tracks. You've been subjected to the atmosphere and all the twists and turns the band has created for the whole experience, but you're robbing yourself of the final acts and just pulling out way, way too early. It'd be like hearing The Seer for the very first time and ending on Avatar, and being like "lol Welp that's good enough for now". Fuck that. You've made it this far... why not wait another half-day to hear the whole thing as intended?

Not arguing against file sharing. I download a lot but I also buy a lot even if digital is the only option. I'm mostly just perplexed by people scrambling to be the first to hear an incomplete Swans record, no matter how it's obtained. they're both really good, but they're different to the point of being really hard to compare. Like comparing Bring The Sun to Song For Dead Time, or A Screw to something like The Apostate

you could compare it to their early material like cop, filth, and holy money, you COULD, but you would also have to realize that not every new album from a group has to be a drastic step in a different direction
