My interpretation would be that it's forced and doesn't have any realness to it
The album has no meaning or push. There's no motivation to continue or even be made except the idea of it being made and sold. There's no story or emotion from this except for the cold industry mechanical feel from a lot of today's music. In this case, its exemplified as Tame Impala are the one hit wounder of the internet age.

if you read about the artist you would know the intention of the album was to make a pop sound and if you're still stuck in the edgy phase you might still abhor pop just for it being pop but i do believe kevin when he says there is a special difficulty in making pop music and that "cold mechanical feel" may be vastly more important than you can currently fathom...also clearly wrong about the one-hit wonder part bc all 3 of his albums have been successes each one succeeding more than the last lol.
