The people who are best at something are almost always self-taught. But the first step is to get a guitar and start playing music on it.

this too

>the people who are best at something are almost always self-taught
lol

also this
you don't
First leave your marriage to said teacher, then wait somewhat five yehr.
Take piracetam
Hyperfocus on rhythm and timing first. Always use a metronome.
Buy a looper so you can quickly listen to yourself and hear your mistakes.
Practice in limited bursts. 15 minutes of real concentrated practice beats 2 hours of noodling.
Eventually play with (and in front of) other people. This will teach you what you need to practice better than anything else.

That seems wrong

for someone like you, try learning the shapes for the major and minor scales on guitar. After that, try learning to play barre chords.

autodidacticism is essential.
But foregoing your ego to approach your craft from a different perspective is also essential. You can do this by getting a teacher. Doesn't have to be long term, but seeing a teacher for 2 months did wonders for me. Then i moved on.

learning how to play your favorite songs is a great way of learning guitar. you can use a tab if you are a beginner, but if you get good enough try learning songs by ear
what's your skill level now OP?
>took me 1 year to get where I am now
>I don't know if I'm "skilled" but I can basically play most songs you throw at me and improvise decently
>really just comes down to practice, AND WHAT you practice..if you keep playing wonderwall youll never go anywhere
>start out learning scales (major scale most important), get a feel for the guitar
>be able to move your fingers around smoothly, should take a 1-1.5 months
>Start learning chords, G C Em D Am F are probably most important at beginning stages
>from there learn barre chords, other types of scales (minor, mixolydian, etc)
>Practice. Practice every day. There is no quick easy way out, just accept it.
>also use a metronome and get a fucking tuner you pleb
Godspeed!
>>65315459
>buy a looper
instead of buying a fucking 200$ looper, just record on your phone or something..fucking elitist fag prick who probably shuns people who don't have massive vinyl collections or $900 headphones
get out, nobody needs your autistic advice

you can't teach yourself technique. there are things you simply can't see or point out which you're doing wrong. good luck playing orchestra instruments.
practice for 4 hours every day
