Personally? I think so. However, I have a gut feeling that Grimes wasn't trying to recreate Visions with Art Angels. I feel as though Art Angels is carefully crafted indie/dreampop, spread across many songs which don't necessarily have an overreaching arc to them. Whereas Visions is an album which isn't actively looking for a niche or genre, it's simply Grimes' creation of sound.

I think it depends on what album by her you started with. If someone were to listen to Visions or Halfaxa first (which is what I did) then they would like her more spacious and experimental work better. But Art Angels is still good, and starting with that would make someone used to the more poppy and clean production think the older stuff is a little strange.

Listen to it again in a month or so. Preferably on headphones, late at night, when you're depressed. Some albums take time to get them. This is 100% one of them.
