But Godspeed were literally never about rhythmic grooves you fucking retard. Timbre manipulation was the point, as well as the concept of collective improvisation and playing off a skeletal concept. Exhaust do neither of the latter due to the fact that half the time their shit is tape manipulation and concrete. If anything they're a poor man's SFTF, plus a few extra elements not present in either band.
But there are fucking dozens of bands that do that. Are King Crimson now similar to GY!BE because I Talk to the Wind happens to replace guitars with lush orchestration (albeit in the form of a mellotron)? Are Art Zoyd also now similar to GY!BE, considering that they are extremely similar to Univers zero? Aranis?
Have you actually heard a single Univers zero album? They rarely if ever use guitars. The Magma influence on that shines through. Whereas Godspeed literally have 3 dedicated guitarist versus 2 dedicated string players (actually 1 considering Norsola was not present for the reunion).

Buhloone Mindstate is definitely their best. The production is some of Prince Paul's smoothest shit, and Pos had some really good bars
