Man it went bad for Fidlar, they went from fun demos and singles to almost overproduced 1st album to full-on pop-punk 2nd album

What's the appeal of lo-fi recordings? In a handful of cases, if the band is going for a real grungy/distorted sound anyway it can be kind of cool but for the most part, shitty recording quality is just a bad thing.
