This would make it a lot easier to regulate them. It would also make drug use less dangerous, since the ingredients of everything that is sold could be tested.
Also, tax money would be saved, as much of the persecution of drug related activities wouldn't be needed.
Frankly, you could actually raise lots of money this way, by taxing everything that is being sold, just like it's done with tobacco and alcohol over here in Europe.

You're not gonna have a lot of people that are gonna go with you on any of that. These issues related to drug addiction and alcoholism (abuse, financial irresponsibility, violence, poverty, gang wars, ect.) are shown to be caused by economic conditions time and time again, study after study. The problem is not the drug itself.
It's easy to then separate the casual use of drugs with acts of violence and crime. Legally regulating that for adults is the only way that works. It's not that this is a perfect system, it's just that the alternative is way worse. Locking up people for drugs is clearly more harmful for society.
Just cos you don't like it doesn't mean it should be illegal. That's selfish and distructive.

If they were more strict about DUI's I think people would be more careful. That shit is so fucking dumb. The penalty isn't anywhere near as bad as it should be.
