I need help /mu/.
My whole life, I can never seem to enjoy ANY music past the early 60s. Anything "rebellious" or anything that isn't soft duwop or classic rock I literally can't stand.
I don't know what to do anymore, its always the same shit on the radio, no one makes music like they used to. I'm not even old, I'm 19 yet I hate EVERYTHING new, modern or "hip".
Help me please. Its driving me mad.

Dion
Bobby Darin
Maurice Williams
Chuck Berry
Johnny Mercer
all of these people are dead and no one knows who they are. I just want to go back
It's a phase that a lot of people go through. You should get over it at some point.

Oddly enough Chuck Berry isn't dead.

Well, thats just your taste. Don't fight it or you'll end hating everything.
That said and taking in consideration
>Anything "rebellious"
Maybe listen to something modern but calming, like ambient.

>this "phase" of mine has been going on as long as I remember
What's the closest thing you've gotten to liking that's kind of modern? Have you tried anything besides stuff that's "rebellious"? Rock in general like Chuck Berry was seen as rebellious back in the 50s and 60s.
>>65218139
I can't get through the whole thing.
>>65218142
I liked the beach boys, soft rock. The way I see once people like janice joplin and jemmi hendrix became mainstream it all went crashing down.
Beatles were cool early on
>>65218171
I feel bad for him, now I'm just wondering when he is going to go, You will be up in rock and roll heaven soon Chuck . . .
What do you think of Tom Waits OP?

Okay, I dunno if you'll care for these suggestions, but try them out:
Spiritualized - Sweet Heart, Sweet Light
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-A0NdCq8KQ
>surprisingly jesus-y, but about as close to rock'n'roll as modern music is capable of getting
Beirut - The Riptide
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqtDIeJW0ss
>very poppy, lots of brass, wouldn't be surprised if /mu/ doesn't care for it but I like it and I think you would
Arcade fire - The Suburbs

>maybe?
>I dunno
I'd recommend Godspeed (you! Black Emperor) to you, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't care for that either.

Tom Waits also hates the direction of modern rock music.
>>65218220
Elo's early stuff is a pretty interesting fusion of rock and classical music. You would probably want to stop listening by the late 70's albums
>>65218174
So you like the quieter stuff rather than the more rock and roll sound? Though you said you like Chuck Berry too. Maybe pop music is more up your alley. Not like top 40 pop but pop music is generally softer than stuff considered rock. I don't know, try Kate Bush. That's still 80s (though she has stuff released more recently that's good too) but it's more modern at least. You might like Belle and Sebastian too. Also try some ambient like that other anon said. Like Brian Eno's ambient stuff.
