You can still buy a decent tt and amp to play those records, you just need literally hundreds of dollars up front and tons of disposable income to build a reasonable collection. Good luck!

Look for lower end Audio-Technicas. They aren't great, but at the very least they won't literally destroy your records like Crosleys do. Make sure you have a new cartridge and needle.
Look around online and do some research before making your decision. If you live in a town with a knowledgeable pro-audio or vintage audio salesperson it wouldn't hurt to talk to them, either.
This will also require the purchase of a preamp and speakers if you don't have them already.

Audio-technica's lp60 is probably the cheapest you can go without it being complete ass. It's not a good turntable, but it's definitely a step up. It has a built in preamp, so you just need a receiver and some headphones or speakers.
