American Special Strat, buy a used hardcase, or American Standard Strat?

Either way I'm going to deck the trem and forget about the whammy bar, and I prefer jumbo frets on the special. I don't care about those fancy stuff on the standard, seems redundant.

So is this viable, or is there something that would make me NEED the standard.

I have tried both, and they pretty much feel the same except the fret ends on the American Special was sticking out a bit. I probably got a bad one, I will try one with maple fretboard since I find the fret ends on those aren't so obvious.

Pickup wise, I don't care since I'm gonna swap them eventually.

I could also go with fender Japan too.. that's even cheaper and I'm not high on the budget department.

Really considering if I should go after a Strymon Flint or if I get something like a Bluesky/Neunaber instead and then a separate tremolo.

Any experiences with the Flint? I know it's not supposed to do anything crazy and it's a bit on the conservative side (and that's mostly but I do) and I heard nothing but praise about it but I'm really wondering if the reverb and tremolo options it offers are all that versatile and different from each other or just more of the same (aka you end up basically with just a single kind of reverb and tremolo in a pedal and just very subtle variations between the modes).
>>
>>65090725
What kind of pickups u plan on stickin in there?
>>
>>65091632

Probably a mini humbucker on the bridge, something jazzy on the neck, and leave the middle be.

Blasphemous I know.

I might get a Tele though because I hate trems and I don't need the middle pickup.
>>
>>65091504

Those Chase Bliss Audio are fucking delicious, I really want that Warped Vinyl, best vibrato I've heard. Soon, I hope.

I cannot help you with your question, but Strymon has the Midas touch. Everything they do is virtually perfect.-

I want to get a good Rotary, probably the Tech 21 Rotochoir, I also considered the Dunlop pedal version. Currently repairing my Mastotron, I miss some vibrato in here.-
>>
>>65090541
Birds play guitar, so do we. It's that simple.
>>
>>65091309
Same here. My first bass in high school was a real shit show, and some pro bassist happened to be around and said it played better han his fender. At the time I thought he was just being nice, since I thought "there's no way the cheapest bass on amazon could play better than a fender." But I had set it up, and now that I've played vintage fenders with cable tie action and buzz simultaneously, I know this guy was probably yet another pro musician who couldn't set his own bass up.

Plus, you can adjust a guitar better to your own preferences doing it yourself. I take great comfort being able to change the action on my bass as I learn new techniques or my preferences change.

>>65091993
Wait what?
I don't have any ukes. Is that what that shit's for?
I just want a decent table top amp with good enough tone.
>>
>>65091750
Yeah, Chase Bliss Audio is currently my favorite pedal company. I should be getting the Tonal Recall delay real soon.

It took me a while to fully appreciate the Warped Vinyl, though. It's labeled as a chorus/vibrato pedal and as a fan of chorus, it never really produced any decent chorus tones. That's until I learned that it basically can produce some chorus-ish tones (just like the Spectre and several other pedals such as delays, flangers and other vibratos can also sound similar to a chorus in certain settings) with the mix at noon but ultimately it's essentially and exclusively just a vibrato pedal. Then I stopped trying to make it sound like a chorus and started to appreciate it for what it is: one of the most beautiful vibrato tones I've heard.

I wish Joel releases a dedicated chorus at some point, though.

How do you like your Big Sky? Do you do a lot of ambient stuff? Do you find it overkill unless it's used for that? Mad envious of it.

>>
>>65092587

Your guitar manual actually says a thing or two about setting up your guitar.. it also probably comes with a huge WARNING, ONLY GET YOUR TRUSS ROD ADJUSTED BY A PROFESSIONAL but, as long as you don't adjust it too quickly or force it too hard, you should be fine.

The hardest part of a setup is anything that involves sanding away stuff, since if you screw that up its an expensive fix.

Isn't a gap better in some sense? Like when the wood expands due to the weather, it's not going to crack the finish.
>>
>>65093493
Eat them while you can. Ukulele slide is not really that good. You have to play at very low volumes to get a good sound so really it's useless, just fun. Lap steel < normal slide guitar.
>>
>>65093546
Generally a sign of good quality on bolt-on necks is a very tight fit between body and neck, so no, a neck pocket gap is generally a bad thing.

A good bolt-on guitar should be able to stay attached even without screws on and require some amount of force to push the neck in and out before screwing. A gap is room for the neck eventually tilting and flexing.

Speaking of teles, why do you like them?

What's the best version of them?
>>
>>65093546
yeah in that sense it's better. Obviously the look bugs some people. It's a very common complaint when somebody gets some american standard or whatever and they have a gap. I remember a guy complaining because he could slide a piece of paper in there. I think it's actually more that people think they will have less stability, which of course isn't true.

I dunno, the gap never bothered me when I put the new neck on. I was only concerned about making sure the strings would go on straight. I don't personally see how it can be ugly.
>>
>>65093618
I don't like them. Teles are the ugliest things out there.
>>
>>65093618
my main guitar is a tele. i played an LP for 10 years before switching to a tele. the LP is too heavy for me now. i always thought teles were ugly country guitars, but now i love their simplicity.

the only thing i don't like about my tele is the neck, radius is too curved, frets aren't big enough, neck profile isn't optimal for me. the body is fine, but i'm getting a custom neck for it soon once i get money.
>>
>>65093605

But even on the American made fenders that I have come across, they all have at least a tiny tiny gap in them. If it ain't touching the body at all, how can it contribute to stability?

I'm talking about the sides here.

I don't know, man, at least on my American made Fender there is not gap, definitely can't put a sheet of paper through there. Same with my luthier made tele.

Maybe it's a quality control issue but every luthier I've discussed this with and or I've seen them talking about it (Crimson Guitars has talked about it a few times, for example) claims that a gap is a sign of lack of craftsmanship and generally inferior quality.

Might not end up being a big issue but I can definitely see potential for the neck moving throughout the years of use (because if there's room for movement, the screws can end up flexing the wood around them) and eventually getting loose in the pocket.

Someone around my area is selling a Boss SD-1 and a Boss DS-1 both for pretty decent price each and I only really want to get one of them but I'm not really sure which one I should go for since I don't have an overdrive or a distortion pedal. My amp has distortion but it's not really good of course, so since I have distortion in some capacity would the SD-1 be the better choice?
>>

How much? They're like $40ish used in stores.

Personally I'd get the ds, because i can get overdrive from the amp. But if they're like 20$ just get both. You can sell the one that you dont like and at the least get your money back.

It can be considered a sign of bad craftsmanship if the luthier or manufacturer was aiming for a tight fit. But the fact that the body and neck will swell and shrink differently over time means a tight neck pocket can be one of two things: tight sometimes and with a small gap others, or tight some times and really fucking tight others. The latter is what causes finish cracks and occasionally cracks in the body. It's only a risk though. It seems it's quite possible to strike a happy balance and get a pocket that's always tight and doesn't crack but... you can see why some people don't take the risk.

Good luck with your pocket btw. If you want you can sand it a bit.

Dual Showman bro from a few weeks ago

got amp and original parts back, tech showed me what he did; the caps he pulled def did need to go, and it wasn't a complete capjob and retube. The amp sounds great so I'm happy, though I am still annoyed he did that w/o letting me know what he was doing first, because it doubled the price of repair.

However now I'm getting a kinda burning smell from the amp; the tubes were replaced with Sovteks and I've read that the paint on those can burn and give off a burning plastic smell? Is it likely just that, or should I be worried he missed something or biased it wrong? It's not making any funky sounds or anything, just this smell when I dime it.

My strat is 9 years-old, I think I'll be fine. You'll never see an actual high-end, nicely made bolt-on neck with a gap on the pocket. Yet you'll see all the way asian/mexican ones with it.

From a pure woodworking perspective (if you know anything about it at all) I think it's pretty obvious that a neck pocket gap is a bad thing.

But by all means, if that reasoning is what it takes for you to be happy with your guitar, keep at it, man.

That's what I think too.. After all there's tons of strats suffering from neck pocket crack, and I always thought it was because the neck was too tight.

If the weather changes and the neck expands, the finish on the body gets cracked. But by this logic, how come such stuff never happens to set neck or neck thru guitars?
>>
>>65094342
anon i do not know about amps myself and i do not want to do
>>
>>65094333
I'm not trying to reason away the thing, but those neck pocket cracks are caused by tight fit. Please don't take this like I'm saying your guitars are bad, man. I would never do that. Like you said, all high end guitars are like that.

If he knew what he was talking about he'd know that neck pocket finish cracks are caused by the stress of the bottom of the neck, the stress caused by the screws, not side stress caused by wood expansion on a tight fit. They always crack at the bottom.

That's why cheap chinese strats still crack even with poor neck pocket gaps.

Pic related is an example of that.

They are not. At least not by tight side fits. Read the comment above.

Another example of a bad side neck pocket gap and still a finish crack. They are caused by the stress of the neck screws, not side wood expansion.

There are hundreds more pictures on Google if you're inclined.

Isn't this pretty common on bolt neck guitars. I know Vai's evo suffers from this too.
>>
>>65094559
Yes, it is. And it's not caused by a tight neck/body fit, as that one guy is suggesting.

A tight neck fit to the body's neck pocket is a good thing, not bad, and it's not the element responsible for these typical finish cracks.

Can be sometimes but often they just appear out of nowhere. It's a fragile area of the strat's design in general.

Anyway, even neck pocket gaps aren't that big of a deal. Yes, it is a result of higher tolerances on the manufacturing process which in other words could be described as a lack of attention to detail but ultimately the bolt-on neck design (as long as it's the modern 4-5 screws) is very reliable and you'd still have to fuck up pretty hard and be very unlucky for it to become an actual problem.

Just makes for kind of a bad look if you're anal about detail or want to give people shit on 4chan.

Self-control i suppose. Now u know why you see idiots spending tons of money on rims, parts, and shit for their cars. Seems stupid to me, and I'm an auto tech. However, someone dumping their paycheck on a guitar or amp seems a-ok. I stare at tool catalogs, guitar catalogs, and look at tools and guitar shit on craigslist, ebay, or whatever all the time. Just no impulse buys. A good trick is just set up a budget. Like give yourself 20$ a week. If something costs $100, wait 5 weeks. You might change yout mind by then.
>>
>>65094867
nice, looks like a really fun setup. Weird that you have your compressor after the Rat, though. The simpler the better, I think. When I look at gear pics (too often) it's always the guitar > 0-5 pedals >tube amp pics that inspire me to close my computer and go play.
Stick those pedals on a Pedaltrain Nano, it would be so sexy.
>>
>>65094496
The budget thing is a good idea. Setting up a reward system would also be cool. Learn something hard you never thought you'd be able to nail and reward yourself with a new piece of gear. Obviously set your goals very high, though, like stuff that should take you at least a year to work on.
a 1 in, 1 out policy/even trade policy with pedals is a good idea as well.
>>
>>65094496
i kind of have the opposite problem, i almost never buy gear, i only really get stuff out of necessity. i'm happy with what i have. a few tweaks here and there and maybe a couple more pedals and i'd be completely satisfied.

another easy trick is to just be broke and convince yourself you don't need anything (like me)
>>
>>65094691
No, it's the flex of that area of the neck. Below the neck is pretty thin. At least, that's the prevailing opinion. It does make some sense to me though that that part of the body moving up or down would cause that kind of crack though.

If you want tonal versatility you absolutely want a guitar with more than one kind of pickup, not just humbuckers with coil taps. You should look up and listen to some of the different wiring mods people do as well as different pickups. I don't want to just shove my idea of a perfect tone machine at you. You should decide what things you think are most useful.

Serious question, how do I "git gud" at bass? I know my scales, I can move fairly free within most of them, I have decent rhythm and time and I don't play sloppy. But I can't come up with decent bass lines or improvise/jam at all. Do I need to learn more theory? Where should I start? Or do I just need more experience under my belt/is it something that just comes with time?

>6-saddle tele bridges

>>
>>65096012
>6 saddle bridges are bad
They're literally better in every single way imaginable.
>>
>>65096036
Aesthetics
>>
>>65096012
6 saddle tele bridges are awesome. There's no tonal benefit to the 3 saddle bridge. idk what tdpri snake oil you've been drinking but there's no extra twang or sustain with the 3 saddle bridge. It's just harder to intonate. As long as it's a string through hardtail it's gonna be great Tele tone.
>>
>>65095996
Knowing your scales isn't enough, you need to sit down and listen to intervals and understand how they sound under the context of the chords, since chords dictate the function of your notes. Knowing what a major 3rd, minor 2nd, perfect 4th etc sound like is crucial because you can think where you want to take lines.

Spend more time improvising on jam tracks and learning your interval distances since they are going to be universal, also try targeting chord tones or non chord tones to add tension
>>
>>65096043
I thought that at first too when I was looking for a Tele. Now that I actually own one I'm glad I got the 6 saddle style. I like the more vintage-looking ones on mine, though, as opposed to the bulkier strat-style ones. That aesthetic difference honestly would bother me.
>>
>>65096043
Wow, you have to be one hell of a faggot to care about the aesthetics of your fucking bridge.
>>
>>65095996
Also don't think with your hands, use your voice to guide the melody and find it out on your guitar to better evoke the emotion you're looking for
>>
>>65096073
Meh I just think they look weird. Especially since it's usually with a flat bridge plate instead of the rolled ones

>>65096090
Really? The bridge is part of the guitar so obviously how it looks will affect how the whole guitar looks
>>
>>65096113
It's a fucking bridge you autist, it's just supposed to work. You can already choose the colour and material, whether there are 3 or 6 saddles on there is so incredibly irrelevant that it hurts my brain when people like you think it makes a lick of a difference because you stare at 20 megapixel closeup images of guitars all day.
>>
>>65096168
Fuck off you cunt, its still a part of how the guitar looks. Some people can prefer it for that reason, while STILL having a working bridge on their guitar.
And compensated saddles exist before you go on a tirade about how 6 saddles are so much better.
>>
>>65096113
well one of my guitars which is posted above has a 3 saddle bridge and man fuck that thing. The 3 saddle design doesn't work any better on a Tele, either. I managed to get the intonation pretty good on my Musicmaster but sometimes on 3 saddle bridges it can be a huge pain in the ass and very frustrating to intonate 2 strings per saddle. Each string should have its own saddle.
To sacrifice functionality for aesthetics really doesn't make any sense to me
>>
>>65096068
>>65096099
I think I always end up going for "shapes" on the fretboard instead of thinking about the actual intervals and the relation to the root note. I mean, I know the intervals but I just don't actively think about them. Guess that's part of the problem.
>>
i never understood the whole 3 saddle vs 6 saddle aesthetic thing. i honestly think the 3 saddle bridges look really doofy. i guess i can understand if you like the sound of brass saddles, but you can just get brass versions of the 6 piece saddles now
>>
Let's calm down now.
>>
>>65096228
Trust me, I have the same problem. Improvising is a skill that takes a long time to truly develop but hang in there and mastery will come with time.

The end game is to peel back as many layers of limitations as possible so that you can be as expressive as possible in how you hear it in your head.

Just be sure to set aside 30 minutes in your practice routine for improvising, and if you cannot create or visualize scale shapes from something other than your lowest string work on that, because it will make things ten times easier
>>
>>65096258
No, fuck nice things.
>>
>>65096228
Also I would take time to practice a lick that you really like and to boost your creativity try to milk every drop of creativity out of it that you can, come up with a handful of variations and rhythms
>>
Any bassists use foam on flatwounds?
>>
>>65096228
i think the best way to approach that is how you practice something versus how you play it live. you should practice and memorize scales/intervals/chord tones/arpeggios/knowing the notes of all this shit and stuff like that, but you shouldn't be thinking too heavily about that stuff when you actually play in front of people

ultimately the goal is to just grab the sound you want rather than thinking about all the theory shit. it's kind of like the minor pentatonic scale, we all know the scale, we all know the notes and intervals in it, but i never actually think about any of that shit when i'm playing it, it's so ingrained into me that i don't have to think about it. just extend that into other scales/arpeggios/etc and eventually you don't have to think about it
>>
>>65096343
Foam picks are gay.
>>
>>65096343
I currently don't have flats on any fretted basses, but I used to and I use foam regularly. Great for Motown or vintage tones.
>>
>>65096213
Fair enough. I'm okay with sacrificing a few cents off perfect intonation for what is stylish to me.
That said, I use a compensated 3-saddle bridge anyways.

>>65096235
It's a preference. Like you even said, you think it looks goofy. I think the opposite, so I prefer them.
>>
>>65096367

How do you guys do chord progressions and strumming patterns? Just whatever feels right or is there something else to it?
>>
>>65096418
*leans in for the kiss*
>>
>>65096375
the intonation thing is why i just refuse to ever get 3 piece saddles. when my intonation is slightly out it's just so unbelievably annoying to my ears that i can't play until i fix it
>>
>>65096431
The end objective is that it feels or sounds right. However, generally this will be a progression that fits a certain key. You can look this stuff up.
>>
>>65096483
Even when I try and do progressions though it just ends up sounding generic still. Like I know the basics about what can follow what (IV -> V, ii -> dim vii, V -> vi, etc) in major/minor but even when I try and follow those rules and throw more chords in it just sounds generic and flat.

Am I thinking about it wrong or something?
>>
>>65096431
i never really bothered learning strict strumming patterns, never really found that stuff useful, the way people teach strumming patterns always seemed so unnatural and mechanical to me. it all comes together in time if you practice and listen to enough rhythm guitar, eventually you won't even have to think about how to strum it, it just comes out naturally
>>
>not using superior 2 saddle bridge
It has superior sustain AND resonance. The only people who don't buy this are jealous poorfags.
>>
>>65096549
yeah, chord progressions by themselves are gonna sound generic cause guitar is a generic instrument. It's all about what you do with it. Songwriting, lyrics, effects, band arrangement, etc.
>>
>>65096589
that is so retarded. Mastery-tier bullshit.
>>
>>65096592
Yeah, that's why I was asking about strumming patterns too.

I dunno. I figured starting with acoustic guitar made sense because then if it sounds good stripped back it'll still sound good once I add more onto it. I've been listening to a lot of Elliott Smith and even when he doesn't do fingerpicking or have a band behind him he sounds fantastic. Am I just attaching significance to what would otherwise be a really basic song?

Hi /yys/, what kind of guitar do you have?
>>
>>65096549
A simple chord progression is bound to be generic. You have to listen for the emotion in it. Try to emphasize that. Which notes sound interesting to you? Experiment with basic arpeggios and listen for the feel and rhythm. A musician needs to play with his ears, first and foremost.
>>
>>65096604
One of these bridges costs more than my whole guitar.
>>
>>65096665
I've been playing for half my life and I can't play Elliott Smith songs. He's just really fucking good. But in all honesty you're probably just overthinking it. Focus on your songwriting and chord choice. As long as you veer from the most basic possible chord choices you should end up with something good. Lyrics/main melody are important.
Also acoustic-electric with pedalboard and amp is fucking great. You can get away with playing simpler and it will be entertaining. Not exactly the stripped-away Elliott Smith sound, though.

I'll think more about the main melody and take advice from you and >>65096691, thanks for the help.

> Also acoustic-electric with pedalboard and amp is fucking great

Yeah, I definitely agree! Once I come up with something good I'm going to start adding on effects and more instruments and shit like that. It's just that I like the idea of having songs that sound good on their own as well as with effects and such, if that makes sense.

An acoustic-electric guitar does sound like a cool investment, though. I was going to upgrade my Jazzmaster but the VMJM has served me well so there's probably no need for that now.
>>
>>65096872
ahahaha I had a VMJM to, man. It's currently in parts, I HATE that thing. I bought a Staytrem and everything, just never could get any sustain out of it, it was too heavy, and the tone was way too dark, almost humbucker territory but with all the hum of the single coils. I'm gonna hold on to the body and the Staytrem for a future Jazzblaster project.

the dark tone is an effect of the basic pickup design. You can't really fix that completely, but ceramic magnets, a no load tone pot, and a 1 meg volume can help. Otherwise, focus on the amp. A multiband EQ and/or a parametric EQ can be a big help.

>>

well you wrote an entire paragraph without punctuation. congrats

seriously though having a sense of rhythm comes naturally to some people, so if you have that that's good enough. and anybody could play guitar if they tried long enough. you probably never had a patient teacher which some people need.

>>65099880
as someone who owns a squier bullet strat, i'd say go for the pacifica. yamaha makes good stuff.

the bullet strat will actually have a tremendous neck (for the price) but the body wood is so fucking light and the pickups are 100% garbage. if you feel like swapping out pups and can deal with the worst possible wood, then it's actually a good option.

pacifica isn't that huge of an improvement but it is better imo. idk try and play them first before you make a decision, through a decent amp

I went to lessons when I was younger but all he really taught me was tabs. I haven't really delved any deeper until about a year ago.

I don't know if any of you will remember, but I posted a week or three ago about modeling a guitar to 3d print it. The model is done, except for little things that rely on a decision about how I plan to assemble it.

For example, since I'm not using wood, dimensional stability relative to humidity is a non-issue, so a dead flat neck is entirely possible. So, an adjustable truss rod is unnecessary. However, even PLA has about a third the flexural modulus of rock maple, so I'm pretty much going to need to stiffen the neck with something. I'm planning on two carbon fiber rods running from the body a short ways into the headstock.

Now, because 3d printers don't have the volume necessary to produce an entire guitar, I'll have to cut this into pieces small enough to print. This should enable me to piece the body together, insert the carbon rods, and then slide the neck segments onto the end like a shishkebab, welding them together as I go. Other ideas include reinforcing a center-block in the body with a hard resin or something around a sparse infill. Final finish is probably going to be vapor polished after fine-sanding.

The controls I have planned are a master tone circuit with separate treble and bass cuts, individual volumes per pickup, and a three-position toggle allowing each pickup to be switched between off, coil cut, and fully on.

how much to make me one? sounds interesting as fuck

the carbon fiber rods should work, i like the resin idea.

I haven't even begun looking at what it'll cost me to get the thing printed, but the hardware I've got planned is looking to run about 4-500 bucks. Printing, resin, and a bottle of dichloromethane would be more. So far I have about 80 hours into the project, but a lot of that was unlearning stupid habits from SketchUp.

all told, I'm looking at paying "very nice guitar" prices for something that might be a pile of useless garbage. If it turns out well, I'll redesign the headstock and body outline so Gibson doesn't sue me and maybe look into limited production.

If you make a dead flat neck, chances are the guitar will buzz like crazy with the string tension. Make it at least a bit curved.
>>
>>65100565
idk those aluminum neck guitars and graphite neck guitars have dead flat necks and don't buzz too bad
>>
>>65100565
Not him but virgier uses dead flat necks that aren't adjustable if I'm not mistaken, they seem to do fine.

It all depends on the flexibility of the material used.

Try unplugging the unit from AC, then turn power switch on draining the unit of any remaining power, then plug everything back in and see if that works, if not you probably hosed it.

Vigiers have 10% of their neck made out of graphite, and are completely hand made, they're way more sturdy than plastic could ever be, and the fret work is supposedly top notch.

Drums are just a rarer instrument to find people playing, loud as shit and expensive doesn't make it great for beginners.
Being a drummer and now playing guitar I'm making progress and starting to hear certain chords and identify where they're from, and dicking around on scales is made a lot easier with an understanding of rhythm too.
Unless this is just a high level satire of drummers.

I had a USB connector for my guitar a while back so I could plug the jack into my PC and use programs like guitar rig

There was some input lag (I was using a shitty laptop). If I use a gaming PC will I still get input lag?

Can I pair that program with a real pedal instead of using onboard program effects?

I'm looking to get a shoegaze sound, is the type of guitar I use completely irrelevant and should I simply use programs for effects or build a pedal board if I never plan to play with anyone

ASIO4ALL will remove any input lag. I use the Rocksmith cord with Guitar Rig.

Thinking about offloading some of those silvertones if anyone is in the Sacramento area and is interested. They're actually not too bad but the fretwork and the finish can be a bit dodgy.

I'll take pics of the rest of the gear after work. Pic related is the only pic I had on this computer. That Epi isn't as shit as I thought it was going to be. Bought it originally to just use as a decoration piece for my office but it actually plays well and sounds good. I'm just going to use it as my main knockaround.

Has /gg/ ever be surprised by a "cheap" guitar?

I got lessons for about 2 years and I stopped playing for about 6 before picking it up again

The first teacher I had was a stoner, and he was a useless cunt who just taught me shit songs out of the book.

The second one I had was fantastic and inspired me, my first day with him he sat me down and said this (Pretty much)

"Alright you've got two choices, I can teach you tabs and bits of songs every week like everyone else I teach here, or I can teach you to be a real musician"

I chose the second option, and he taught me scales, chords and a bit of theory all to teach me how to improvise.

I stopped getting lessons due to school (Dumb choice, I was in primary school) and I never saw him again

I miss you Joel

I recently just got it back from my cunt of an ex wife who more or less stole it from me and let her boyfriends kid have it to "learn" on. The thing needs some TLC now, The nut is pretty fucked, the action is fucked, the intonation is fucked, the pots are dirty as fuck, and the neck adjustment screw for the micro tilt is rattling around under the neck pl8. A new nut, a good cleaning, some new strings, and a little bit of time will have it good as new again.

I bet it sounds as marvelous as it looks.

And I fucking hate it when my nephew comes home and my sister forces me to give him my guitar. It's not a fucking toy, it drives me mad to see his stupid face while he happily strums nonsense.

good to have a sturdy beater amigo. I like playing guitar with my niece though you can't really call it music.

Are you mad because his fingers will leave some marks on your VINTAGE GIBSON TONEMASTER and you'll have to polish it again ?

Beautiful guitar, but damn your story is enraging me. I would love to borrow one of my guitars to someones kid who wants to learn but under the condition that they take care of the instrument.

What your wife did is infuriating. I hate it when people don't respect the value of an instrument, both emotional and monetary.

I guess for most people it's just a plank of wood with some wires attached to it, and they can't grasp how much it's actually worth, but damn, they should know that if they become responsible for it.
