I don't understand the point of music as a standalone art form. Like, music is great when it's used to set the tone or atmosphere for a video game or movie, but why would you listen to it separate from that? Isn't music ultimately just a varied form of background noise?
I've heard you guys are pretty elitist and I guess what I'm asking is, do you actually sit and listen to music while doing NOTHING else at the same time? How can you do that? How does it hold your attention?
Not trying to be mean, are you autistic?
Op are you autistic or something

Let me explain it to you. I've listened to video game soundtracks almost exclusively when I was in high school. I used to think the same way as you.
But the truth is actually really simple: no one buys video games for music. That's why video game music is usually low budget trash. It's ripped off normal music, usually outdated by several years (if not decades). The ripoffs are usually worse, too.
All the "cult" VG soundtracks—say, from Final Fantasy or Megaman games—are at best OK ripoffs of classical music/metal. Because if you're actually a good musician, no way you will waste your efforts on playing background music for videogames. You will make a standalone album and earn money touring, having actual artistic freedom.
Moreover, this might surprise you, but some VG/TV composers don't even "compose" stuff per se. There are resources where you can license ready-made music for commercial use. That's how many games get their soundtracks.
And I bet you haven't even listened to any classic albums in your life, so you judge music simply from the perspective of whatever plays on radio.
