Think about it this way, lets say I'm scared of heights (which when I was younger I was but have since gotten over). If I were scared of heights, should I be able to dictate whether or not you can ride in a plane? No, that's ridiculous. If you want to take a plane somewhere then by all means go ahead. The implications of his disease aside, he is free to do as he pleases. Death is a thing that happens, and you need to learn how to let go. It's a part of nature.
Now OP if you want help then seek it because yes this is a mental issue. I would surmise that you don't want help however in which case do it. It's your life, and you are the one in pain. I am not in pain. The other anons are not in pain. You are. You get to decide what you want. Do not let their desires keep you in pain. And even if you seek help, you will feel this pain again later in life. You're brain is wired to flucuate in and out of depression if you are depressed. That's how depression works. All that I can say is that I have attempted suicide on a few occasions and completely understand the horrors that the mind can bring and the pain that comes with alienation or mental illness, but things got better for me over time and I truly never expected it to work out like that.

I have actual psychosis and PD which will affect me for the rest of my life, I still got to a better place and I'm completely happy that I never actually ended up dead. You are misguided and could seriously aid in harming somebody. Of course people have a right to do with their bodies as they wish, but the point here is that people who desire to kill themselves often have their minds warped (as you said, depression is related to brain chemistry) and with the correct assistance can overcome those pains and live a fulfilling life, even in spite of a serious mental illness. I've known several people who have done this after being in a suicidal situation.
Ultimately the reason why people would try to discourage somebody from killing themselves is because of the belief that pain can be overcome and that people can be happy and be well again.

There is a failing in my argument because of that speculation; however, I feel I can confidently make the same argument for any other speculation as well. Coming from a depressive what I will say, my objective points aside, the well intended still have their own serious implications in the lives of those they try to saves. By convinincg someone not to kill themselves because of others, they make the depressive feel gultier than they were before. The depressive is aware of the feelings of others. It can almost feel like blackmail and make life harder for the depressive. You do not know how what you might say will affect anyone. That's why the only thing you can truly do is be blunt. If a depressive wants help sometimes the only thing you can do is call them out. Tell them they are depressed or to be frank about the subject of death. And at the end of the day, it is not your life. It is not your decision. You have no say in what anyone else does or thinks.
Look, I'm rambling on here. At the base of all I am saying is fuck off it's not your life. OP, if you want to do it then do it. It's your life and your choice. Morality aside, only you can lead your life. You more than likely have an illness, and you can work on it. Or you can do something else and not become a slave to your illnesses. You're completely misunderstanding what my intent is. My story isn't meant to be a touching emotional appeal, just factually my own experiences in a similar situation, nothing more or less than that. I think you're also attributing qualities to me that I don't have, I'm not saying he must not or can not commit suicide, of course he/she may do whatever they want, and I am sympathetic to the potential guilt someone might face by being told to live for the sake of others. I don't think anybody should live for other people, I think they should live for themselves and what I meant is that it's entirely possible for the OP here to recover in the future. Then again it's also entirely possible that they may not ever recover.

Actually killing yourself isn't very easy. You see humans have a thing called instincts. All living things have it really. They all have instincts to live. You have to try pretty hard to kill yourself. You don't just say I'm gonna do it then do it.
