the OP and ED to this show aren't very good but the rest of the soundtrack for the actual episodes in a lot of scenes is surprisingly patrician, at least in comparison to other moe anime which generally use generic silly and upbeat music. this one uses lots of obviously classical-inspired, atmospheric songs that elevate the show to a much more enjoyable level.
Baccano has one of the best soundtracks.

Lots of things. Mainly a love story with mechas, but it has themes like the purpose of someone's life, racism, logic v/s emotion and more. People tend to turn away from it because it's similar on surface to Evangelion, but when you watch it it's night and day.
