oh wow, I've heard Heavy Sounds multiple times - no recollection that there was such a version of Summertime in there and it really felt like a much more recent recording without context

/blindfold/s are weird that way
>>
>>64680907
Certainly wouldn't have picked track 10. Also surprised to know thats Buddy Rich on drums in Bird with Strings
>>
>>64683597
Same. Maybe I've only heard it once but I definitely thought it was a more modern recording from how well the bass was recorded.

It's a pretty darn diverse album. Some incredibly played hard bop tracks on there too and a solo guitar blues by Elvin which is actually surprisingly good.

What are you thoughts on this album?

I've been listening to it all week and it's slowly becoming one of my favourite albums
>>
can you recommend me some trumpet essential albums? >inb4 spoonfed
>>
>>64685796
yeah, Raunchy Rita and Elvin's Guitar Blues are the tracks I particularly remember from that album

putting together some more /blindfold/ lists today so not telling you what I'm listening to to not limit my options
>>
>>64685935
it definitely grows on you hey

first i thought the guitar was distracting but i've grown to enjoy the interplay is nice between hall and evans. they're both playing their own style but it works together.

overall i still prefer a evans trio album to this but it's definitely smoething to check out for evans fans
>>
>>64686092
its just reaaly soothing, great music to relax to when you're tired
>>
>>64683687
If you're interested in hearing more Bird/Rich shenanigans I can heartily recommend the (short) album Bird & Diz. In case those three names aren't exciting enough for you, it also features Monk on piano.

>Josh Redman
I loved how he incorporated repetition into that solo.
