I was referring to the fact Jim is no longer in At the Drive-In, meaning Cedric and Omar are the main creative forces, as they were in The Mars Volta (where they were joined by Paul, making it 3/4 members). At the Drive-In were heading in a more progressive route towards the end anyway if you listen to some of their unreleased tracks, and Omar is not the type of artist who would step backwards and rehash ATDI's old sound. In fact, he said as much the last time they toured.
Also Cedric tweeted around the ATD-I announcement that a Mars Volta reunion was part of their long-term plan. I get the sense this ATD-I reunion was just a way of them letting everyone know they're still around.
