It's trite poprock shit that's incredibly boring, self indulgent and masturbatory. It may as well be an 80 minute field recording of a horse jerking off.

Tired Sounds is ambient wank shit which is utterly pretentious and boring

Suicide could have been good if it wasn't some fucking fag moaning into a microphone while another fucking fag mucks around on MIDI presets.

Rating curves are a meme

>>64654250
Youre just saying rating curves is a meme cause you have a fuckawful one
pls learn to be critical of albums you like not just ones you dislike, I can't imagine you consider all these albums you have in 5/5 as completely perfect or near-perfect.

Suicide should at least get props for the atmosphere and I don't see how Tired Sounds is wanky, boring maybe but youre fucking listening to dreamy relaxing ambient what the fuck do you expect :>

Good response

I am critical of all albums, I have reviewed numerous ones that I like, am neutral to, and dislike.

And yeah I do consider them completely perfect. God forbid someone doesn't share your opinion.

Atmosphere my ass, it's still obnoxious as shit and the production is painfully loud.

>relaxing
There's a line between ambient that's genuinely relaxing and ambient that's literally pretentious boring trash. Stars of the Lid cross that line on that album.

Just fyi calling music boring, pretentious, annoying or just terrible are not proper criticism.
They're words a 5 year old would use to describe something he doesn't like, bring up actual fucking points when talking about music for fucks sake you criticize the production on suicide so you clearly know how to. It's not hard and maybe you'll actually have a constructive conversation with someone for once.

Please get the fuck out of my home. No, seriously. You see that 'x' on your tab for this thread? Click it. Fucking click it. And make sure you relocate to somewhere like www.reddit.com/r/letstalkmusic and most importantly don't ever bother coming back here not in this lifetime, or any other lifetime. If by some miracle you choose to get cryogenically frozen at your death and hundreds of years down the line, when people figure out a way to bring back the dead and cause them to become immortal, don't even think about coming to this place. I fucking hate everything about you, dude. You think that you can come into my house and try to have a serious discussion about "music"? That's not what we do here, pal. Not a single "desu" is in your entire post, lmao DUDE are you even trying?

Matter of fact, why don't you fuck right off to the economist with all that fancy technical jargon. Incase you've forgotten, this is 4chan.com/mu/. If your post lacks "cuck, desu, meme, top kek, >implying, who are you quoting?, nice meme, kill yourself my man, jenny death when, we out here senpai, we eatin tonite, 311, *glass breaks* fire emoji, literally who, trap influenced memes" (just to name a few, and by 'few' i mean .01% of our dankest shit you'll ever read) then it is against the rules to click that submit.

Got it, punk?

Lemme guess, unless it's criticizing music you don't like right?

I'm not in the mood for going into 1000 word long critiques of an album or band I don't like, that's what I do reviews for.

Either way I don't like Tired Sounds, Suicide or The Wall. You're free to message me anytime on my RYM profile if you do indeed want a proper discussion and dissection of any of those albums merits or detractions.

So yeah...it's doesn't mean anything and people who call music "pretentious" it's because they want to appear very intellectual.

PS: I like TMR and Tago Mago as well. Just wanted to say you are a very retarded person.
>>
>>64654835
No, Music for Airports does something interesting in its runtime. It may be repetitive but not in an overtly boring sense, it still manages to entertain the listener.

>>64654844
It does indeed make itself out to be more than it actually is. It's really just the same samples put on loop for about 10 minutes and then put through some hall reverb but it uses the ridiculously unrelated song titles to make itself look like some sort of deep philosophical statement.

I believe my usage of the word pretentious is justified there

if i had known that my spelling of certain words would lead to death threats on me (and my children!), multiple dozens of homophobic insults, spam attacks, and hate from anonymous 4-chan types on various unaffiliated forums...if i had known all of this, i may have decided it wasn't worth it.

i really do not want to make anyone's life worse because of a spelling idiosyncrasy. i am trying to spread fun, life, joy of spelling goofily, confronting funny words in a new light, and general love-of-english-language! this goal has instead caused many to proclaim my presence on this site a reflection of my autism, idiocy, or desire to annoy others.

This cannot be real. This isn't real.

common misconception

positive rating systems are perfectly accepted and will always lead to 100% weighting unless the user is doing something else wrong (many positive raters have 0% weighting for completely unrelated reasons)

100% and 0% are literally the only weightings for regular users, the bonus weighting is for active reviewers and the 50% weighting is for inactive users

This can't be true because usually my genre votes always amount to nothing (even when I propose them) but when I rated a relatively unknown album lower than other people who rated it (had like 5 ratings before me) the rating went down by .10

genre voting has a different weighting (glitchwave options confirms this)

you probably have 0 for votes and 100 for ratings
>>
>>64655672
>>64655736
It is also possible that you have 0% weighting for both votes and ratings and that the rating went down because when you rated it the average was updated to match the new weightings of everyone who had rated it previously (this is a thing. ratings are updated when someone rates the release and not automatically)

again, 0% and 100% are the only weightings for users who aren't active reviewers or completely inactive. the misconception that positive raters "have less weight" needs to end

>100% and 0% are the only weighings
Not sure about ratings but this is definitely not true for genre votes
I can't make a genre green with just my vote, but I did grey out a genre on an album yesterday by voting against it (it had like 43 "yes" and 46 "no" votes iirc)

I don't understand why my genre votes have low weighing though, i never abused the system by voting nonsense genres or anything. Not sure if you need to hit a certain number of genre votes in order for your votes to get 100% weighing or smth like that

Who is this guy?

I want to check his recommendations, most similar users....
I want how this stuff would work under his case.
>>
>>64656072
No it's still true for genre votes. Pretty sure you have 0% weighting my friend. The reason you greyed out the genre is likely not because your vote counted but because your vote updated the count.

Every new user starts out at 0% and weightings are supposed to be updated every month or something like that, but it has been broken for a long time and they're aware of the problem. If you've been a member for more than a couple months and you've never abused the system, I'd suggest requesting that your weightings be updated via the website feedback link at the bottom of the page
>>

>I want to check his recommendations, most similar users....
based on my tests, rate your music recommend music to you to stuff you rated 2.0 or more.
Unless you share alot of ratings with some user, than some of his albums will be there as similar, no matter if you rate only stuff with small scores
