I have a little more than 1500 songs on my phone. It's all music I like and will listen to at anytime because I usually just put on shuffle. And it's all downloaded through Spotify Premium.

I use both spotify premium (which sucks for organising albums) and download the ones not available there/my all time favorites (mp3 320kpbs)

Use streaming for finding music and download later if it really sticks but I don't have all my favorites so not as much as you'd expect. Download flac but if two songs flow into each other I put them together as one track (so they don't skip) and then convert all of them to mp3 for phone storage but I keep the flac on my computer anyway in hopes that I'll get more room in the future.

Have 1.4 GB of 320kbps MP3s on my phone. Use it for my car. Usually, I'll just stick my favorites in a playlist to shuffle and have fun.

about 20 of that is stuff I adore and never delete and then the other 35 is new stuff that I either cycle out if I don't love it or sort to the "keep forever" folder

I had like 7 Gb of music neatly tidied in my phone's memory.
The music that I torrented may had different names and may not have cover art, but I downloaded apps for taking care of that manually.
Then I lost my phone on a bus the last week.
Now I just use spotify.
