Pet Sounds
Fear of Music
In the Court of the Crimson King
while i'm not a fan of it, i believe that this album is a musical representation of the >current year
and as such is fit for a museum

Time, place, sound, vibes...christ I wish I'd been there.

Living hell, yes. This needs to inspire people in the future to make more music like it.
OK Computer was inducted into the library of congress along with some albums from The Doors.
No question

no way dude
Tame Impala is a good pop rock band but they only represent contemporary western culture in the sense that they tap into the desire for "chill" music American youth yearns for
nothing more nothing less.
there are artists out there today creating provocative reactionary pieces to mass cultural shifts, technology, etc.
Tame Impala is good but their work at its deepest amounts to relationship troubles, the angst that accompanies socialization, and wanting to smoke weed
>>64566215
>there are artists out there today creating provocative reactionary pieces to mass cultural shifts, technology, etc.
I agree with you, but could you name them
>>64566254
Halsey, Twenty One Pilots, Radiohead, the list goes on...
>>64566215

Look I'm no patrician so if you want me to namedrop a ton of artists, you will be disappointed. But I think what Daniel Lopatin is doing is fascinating. Not so much GoD, but R Plus Seven and Replica are impressive reflections on how we use technology. The rest of his material I'm fond of but those two releases particularly are great.
Additionally, though I'm not a fan of Kendrick Lamar, I'd put TPAB above Currents solely for the splash it made culturally. That album has been out for only a year and it is a cornerstone among urban (mostly black) youth. Although only time will tell if his music stands up.
>>64566402
I actually like Lonerism a lot, I'm a big psychedelia fan and Lonerism is awesome. Not trying to diss the band I just feel they're not all that important or groundbreaking. Currents isn't very good though.
> should belong in a museum
> only one jazz album up to now
I am oldfag I loved 1978's /mu/ but this is bullshit

Where is Chet, Mingus, Coltrane, Evans, now

The Avalanches made it so.
Before Scrimzoola rocked the synth he made some killer noise, his first album, Grandma Went out an Hour Ago to Get Milk needs to be added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry list of sound recordings that "are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important"

>>64566215
dude i never said they were good i said that they sound very much like a product of the times that we live in
that alone makes it worthy of being preserved as "culturally significant"
i personally think tame impala a shit but that's not really what the thread is about
>>64569414
