Nah man it was completely flat
people flame anco for PW but i thought it was pretty good for what it set out to be (a return to analog and more vocal based content), was cohesive, and c'mon every artist has their slow streak, i mean look at david bowie.
it's not aoty, but it's a perfectly enjoyable album. anco's worst imo, but it's still a 7.5/10

I feel like PW could've been released as 20-30 minute EP without some of Panda's tracks, then it wouldn't have been so poorly received. I don't think it was such a major event for the band, they made it only a few months, but for fans it had to 'redeem' the band after Centipede Hz and four years of waiting.

While I do think they haven't been releasing as consistently good stuff since MPP era, they haven't gotten THAT much worse. I think with comments like yours it's clear that people are just less open to their philosophy on music as a whole. I think if they released Feels or SJ after they exploded with MPP people would say the same shit.

the whiny vocal harmonies at the beginning, bad mixing in my opinion. Like I said, the opener was better, mostly because he sound was more full (probably because she was using a single buchla instead multiple instruments). I was also annoyed by all the people taking acid and looking at their keychains that got caught in the light or dancing like idiots. that being said, is was only 25 bucks

yeah i saw them in london and although it's cliched to say this it was pretty "transcendent" lol
i've seen panda solo live and he was sick but seeing the whole ensemble was so different, especially with jeremy killing it on drums. avey didn't scream a ton but started doing it towards the end and the crowd were crazy for it
