I look forward to hearing the higher fidelity. I like the instrumentation on this too. Waltz was the standout to me. I imagine the vocals get boring after awhile, but it is a short EP so I can't imagine it would be too much of a problem.

I do like the song in general. It is hard to say what parts carry on for too long. Their are some changes in the melody throughout the length of the song that I feel need to stay and they are spaced out well enough that it stays interesting. My problem is that normally whenever I listen to beat tapes or instrumental tracks that are influenced by hip-hop I'm used to them being in the 0:50-1:30 range.
Like I said before, the pick-up around around the 2 minute mark when the vocals come in and the guitar become much more noticeable are a great change of pace.
Nothing wrong with the production as much as it is with my listening style. I definitely wouldn't shorten it at all. In hindsight I think the main problem with it was listening to it as a hip-hop beat instead of an instrumental piece. Going back to it, the length is definitely fine.

Thanks bro. Its definitely not a beat tape thing, its more of a full song, at least that's what I had in mind making it. Only the beat is influenced from hip hop. I might also update the song to a more verse chorus type arrangement and add vocals. Thanks for the feedback.

The first friday night we're doing is opening up for Alien Ant Farm so selling tickets has already been a lot easier with their name on the bill. It's their anniversary show for Anthology. My new album, Bringing Up the Bodies, is out! It's fairly short, but I wanted to distil a certain style and sound in a concentrated manner. A lot of Trip Hop/Krautrock influence, as well as inspiration taken from Flying Lotus and the like and my usual fave Jazz artists (Davis, Coltrane, Maupin, Mingus, Liston Smith, Hubbard). Worked on over 3 months and going through many changes until I was finally happy. I really am.

Awesome man glad to hear that. and yes we will make tapes, cds, and HOPEFULLY some vinyls too. But all the artwork on the tapes will be all handmade and unique once again. Same with the CDs as well. Various dance genres condensed into the smallest snippets of space possible, interspersed with dark ambient, a bit like those 90s hip-hop tapes where the beats imitated black metal, a bit like acid techno minus the thump. Influenced by stuff like the Avalanches, heavy on the samples.
