>>64534501
>having shit taste
I bet you listen to baroque or some other plebby shit like that
He is actually one of the most skilled and hardworking people in modern electronic music. Whether you like his music or not (I personally don't), he had a huge influence and continues to work hard. I respect him.
is skrillex dubstep or brostep
he probably has a small peepee tbqh
>>64534267
This thread confirms we like him someone add him to mucore
Pic related is literally the only good thing he's ever done.
>>64534896
This is a good EP
I liked him in From First To Last honestly
>>64534896
>>64535099
spring breaks soundtrack is great, too. give it a listen if you haven't
>>64534896
it's really weird to hear him rip off Burial
>>64534896
some of bangarang was p. good
Genuinely underrated. His newer stuff always seems to sound pretty fresh, and his production is always polished as heck.
His Jack U album with Diplo is a solid 8/10
>>64534715
and what is brostep
>>64534569
I thought Bach was baroque, are you calling Bach a pleb musician?
>>64534267

mu will shit on him because he's popular and they want to be edgy. Let's be reality here for a sec: Skrillex is great. He helped usher in Dubstep (which I don't think is that bad), has his own unique sound, is an excellent producer, uses fuckin cool sounds in his music especially the later stuff. The whole rockist attitude to him is evidence that despite /mu's/ alleged aversion to dad rock, they still are sentimental about instruments and rawk n rawl. Sure, DJing isn't much anymore, but this guy puts out top quality material for edm. The only downside is he fell for the trap meme like everyone else, but at least he made some original stuff under it.
from first to last is all the good he did
>>64536512
i agree hes pretty good but the way he looks makes it way too easy to meme on him
>>64536512
>"he helped usher in Dubstep"
>misusing rockist
absolutely ebin
>>64535442
Dubstep was what what dubstep originally was, 2 step Garage music mixed with Dub Reggae.
Bro Step is what Skrillex is where it's dance music and it's all about the "drop".
I don't listen to much of either, but i've looked around and this is the answer I've found.
>>64536586
I agree but that was part of the meme you dip
>>64536512
>He helped usher in Dubstep
>>64536586
>falling for copypasta
>>64536575
>>64536559
how did I misuse rockist
And I knew some faggots would split hairs about dubstep being the equivalent of "what is brostep" poster. I know it hurts you britcucks so much, but dubstep the genre will forever be associated with Skrillex by the vast majority of people.
>>64536512
>He helped usher in Dubstep
stupid little manlet
>>64536701
i dont care about memes like rockist
>>64536732
look here they are again.
I implore you, as anyone you know not from the UK about who best represents dubstep and they'll say skrillex the majority of the time. UK doesn't count because, as proven by Skrillex, you are culturally irrelevant.
He gets a lot of shit, I'm not really a fan, but kudos for doing his thing out of his bedroom and getting fucking rich doing it.
I like a couple of his songs.
>>64536701
rockist isn't just used to refer to "I only like music made with REEL instruments" types, it's meant to refer to people who arbitrarily prioritize traditional rock-oriented ways of consuming music over other mediums (such as singles and eps.) also you just used it to strawman.
and skrillex did usher in a genre, it's just a genre that will forever be known under the wrong name by your average person
>>64536798
>cant argue my point
>"I dont care about memes like rockist"
Thank you for proving me right. The only people who have anything shitty to say about Skrillex are either
1.) britcucks who are jealous that no one cares about burial or skream
2.) "Lol all he does is press a button to make a song" tier plebs
3.) contrarians
And then someone who genuinely don't like it, but it's never that on /mu/. It's always about posturing.
>>64536878
>being this autistic
i never argued with you lad
>>64536857
Well I used my own way, kinda like everyone uses literally the wrong way. Suck a butt.
>The wrong name
What's the right name
>>64536634
>>64536674
If Dan Barrett can fall for it, then dammit I can too.
>>64536895
>autism as an insult
>>64536909
as autistic of a name as it is, brostep
I'd be for calling it american dubstep personally
>>64536915
when did Dan fall for it?
>>64536801
that's because club culture is virtually irrelevant in the us - at least no the sort that place a focus on the music (as opposed to playing top 40 and picking up chicks). you can't just take the context out of something, words and genres mean things - and saying that Skrillex ushered in dubstep is incorrect. Did he popularize it in America after stylizing and manufacturing it in a way that appeals to outdoor edm fests and their audiences? Sure, but dubstep had a very rich culture and scene in the UK for years before Skrillex.

Dubstep is not one genre.
British club music around 70bpm featuring spare syncopated percussion, prominent low end and an accented '1' and '3' has little to do with commercial jock-electronic with simple percussion and bass with high harmonic content, which also happens to be around 70bpm and accent the '1' and the '3'.
>>64534896
>le i'm making serious and artsy music album
fuck off
>>64537150
No, he ushered in dubstep on the world stage. He didn't just popularize it in America. He was doing worldwide tours likely 4 times the size of the biggest dubstep artists UK had to offer
>>64536953
American Dubstep isnt a bad name good suggestion
>>64536953
should be Transcendental Dubstep imo
>>64537729
>worldwide tours likely 4 times the size of the biggest dubstep artists UK had to offer
that's not the point of club music lol
they aren't looking to play world tours on big stages
>>64537766
>Transcendental Dubstep
Someone make this happen
>>64539138
probably already done on soundcloud, and it probably sounds as shitty as the name would imply
