Dope was an awful flavor of the month song and I Need U was incredibly mediocre. Fire with its dated production is still more interesting than either of those. Plenty of old kpop songs that hold up well enough.

I think it's more about quality and stability.
Twice is still a misstep away from fucking it all up. Plus, it hasn't even been a year. A great start doesn't mean much. I expect they will continue to be strong but you can't make super strong claims about a 6 month old group.
The longevity of that mini has been pretty remarkable though. Month to month it still outsells most nugus even now.

It will take a massive drug/sponsor/bullying scandal or immigration to the US to fuck TWICE up now with their current momentum.
The Story Begins' sales are remarkable in that it sold 17k for the first month but very similar numbers for the second month as well and has been chugging along decently ever since. Most albums have massive drop in sales after the first month. I'd attribute it to TWICE doing a fuckton of promos and fansigns for the months after their debut + their song slowly rising on the charts even after promos ended.
I was apprehensive about TWICE's status up until Page Two was released, since it's hard to mark a trend with just one data point. Now that the numbers are coming out for Page Two I think there's solid ground to make claims about them. This comeback was the one that would make or break them and they passed with flying colours.

Dude, you can't admit that one instance of success can't be used to extrapolate data, and then claim that a second data point within a short window of time is enough.
I like Twice, I think they're going strong, but I also think that they're putting in a lot of work and benefiting from momentum.
If you want to see if they're really solid, wait for them to be more than half a year old. Wait to see if they can take a few months off and come back with the same numbers. Right now they are still fragile enough that a comeback in fall with a lukewarm single will hit them hard.
They are currently more successful than RV, 100%. But RV has shown that they can dominate sales even after losing momentum. If Twice can keep it up for the next comeback or even just a digital single then they're golden. But it's all fluid right now.
