You could probably include TON's entire discography other than Bloody Kisses and October Rust.

Bloody Kisses and World Coming Down aren't hard to understand anon, they're far less aggressive than slow deep and hard. There's no themes a woman wouldn't be able to relate to in them really.

He listed Bloody Kisses. I don't understand how they wouldn't get Life is Killing Me or Dead Again unless you're this person who has this idea of women where they're always happy and can always get laid all of the time and nothing bad happens to them because they have sexy boobs and a sexy vagina.

Shit, yeah, I completely missed that somehow. Honestly though, only the material in slow deep and hard is going to be hard for a woman to relate to, and that's because so much of it is completely anti-women

>unless you're this person who has this idea of women where they're always happy and can always get laid all of the time and nothing bad happens to them because they have sexy boobs and a sexy vagina.

That's pretty much how the entirety of /r9k/ sees it, and that board leaks nearly everywhere else.

My mom owns a copy of Pink Moon from the 70's so women can definitely understand that. Jarboe understood FILTH so that one's gone too.
Giles Corey's is about Depression, which is a universal subject matter, hell Spectral Bride is sung TO a woman.

>>
>>64356581
Desthconsciousness is about broad depression, Giles Corey is about a specific kind of self-loathing from being unloved. He wrote part when he broke up with his longtime girlfriend and part of it when he got suicidal (to which that was a contributing factor).

I wouldn't doubt it, but the album's a mirror of 70's and 80's british exploitation cinema in tone, so there's a lot of women in peril, getting stalked, killed or murdered.

Fucking Love this album to death.

Women don't just listen to music for popularity anon. She may have found it on her own.
Hell, they're one of the best rock bands of the 2010's. It's throwback in some ways, but original enough and good enough that it doesn't just ride on being throwback blues-ey Black Sabbath S/T era Hard Rock/Metal.

I don't know, I just don't get the idea that certain demographics can't understand certain music because it's very personal and people interpret lyrics and themes differently.

Maybe I'm just butthurt because Pink Moon is my favorite album though.

You'll hate me for this, but it couldn't have come at a better time. Pete was getting old and he clearly was sliding. He also apparently turned Christian shortly before his death and that can kinda be felt in Dead Again. Also his teeth were fucked. I love the man to death. Type O might, as a band, be the greatest band of all time, but I'd HATE to see him turn into Axl Rose.
>>
>>64356905
you would have to be fucked in the head to relate to the album like that if you were a woman
seriously she gets raped and murdered triumphantly, it's not a slutty pop song
>>
>>64357340
>JUST
>>
>>64357340
I guess you could see it that way, since he had said in interviews that the last thing he wanted was to be like that. But in that same way, I think he would have been able to age with dignity and still make music while avoiding playing at acting like a rockstar in his fifties. And he definitely was not a stupid, ignorant sort of Christian.
>>
>>64357060
Probably because they're a good band.
>>
>>64357469
True, but he was exactly to say the kind of stuff like "I don't think rap is music" which would certainly start making headlines in the mid 2010's. He did an entire song on Dead Again about abortion, granted it's a great song, but still, I think you see what I mean.
>>
>>64355253
type o is the ultimate normie goth chick band
>>
>>64357651
only two of their albums really, their most well known
and those are still simultaneously patrician anyways
>>
>>64357696
October Rust > Dead Again > Slow, Deep And Hard > Bloody Kisses > Life is Killing Me > World Coming Down > Origin of the Feces
imo.

That's not to imply ANY of these are bad. The lowest they got was a 6/10 that's actually an 8/10 but it comes off as significantly more depressing than it was intended and a 6/10 that's a joke album.
>>
>>64357651

>>64358119
Yeah. It's an album so depressing that by the time you get to Pyretta Blaze and All Hallow's Eve, (songs that on any other Type O release would be fun songs), they can't cheer you up. It's so depressing a fucking Beatles medley at the end can't cheer you up.
>>
>>64358177
Well, when an album opens with a brutal, brooding eight-minute dirge like "White Slavery," you probably shouldn't expect a cheerful conclusion.
>>
>>64358177
TON albums are always an emotional clusterfuck, that's just their style. They knew putting Beatles covers at the end would fuck with people.
>>
>>64358275
>>64358280
It was also Pete's least favorite album for the aforementioned album of it being too personal and too depressing.

The album's themes "end" at Lung, where every single member of the band is now dead.
>>
>>64358385

>>

>>
I think people are just posting albums that they like. Being women wouldn't change anything.
>>
>>64358654
It's hard to say. Slow Deep and Hard is an insane record and they never did anything quite like it afterwards. Bloody Kisses would be a more accurate representation of their overall sound and easier listening, and though Slow Deep and Hard is their best, most patrician album, it could be overwhelming. It's not conventional music at all.
>>
>>64358654
No, don't start with slow deep and hard, it's the hardest to get into by far. Start with bloody kisses, work your way through to the end and then listen to slow deep and hard if you want more.

Feel free to skip Origin of the feces if you want, it's not really important, and I don't really like it. Easily their worst album.
>>
>>64358936
>>64359457
thanks for the recs. I just kinda dove into slow, deep, and hard, I like the unconventional nature of it so far.
