yo im doing a law degree and still work on student films. it doesnt have to be one or the other. if all you wanna do is make films then go for it, but if you are content with making films as a hobby you can do that too while actually earning money from a somewhat stable degree.

i started out doing film and ended up switching to law after a semester. i met one of my country's most famous actors as part of the course and he pretty much said that you're gonna have to spend a good 5 years doing unpaid work before you even start to find people willing to pay minimum wage for your work. it's a very self-rewarding career, but it's far from financially viable.
id advise against it unless youve already worked on films that have received very positive reactions.
