The Clash doesn't sound challenging and the fat dude is worrying, but owing to 'LTiA' alone I'm going to ask you what the fourth album is.

>The Clash doesn't sound challenging

Let's see.
Faced with an unknown to me, but generally known band, I generally check out thetoptens.com (>inb4; I do it as a mere popularity gauge) and the three top songs. But the top one, 'London Calling', is, well, I don't hear much music. Just instruments pounding, pound, pound, pound. It's basically jazz-tier in terms of complexity. Sorry. I'll stick to KC.

I love that album but I never seen an original pressing
Picked up Rumours for $2 yesterday from Goodwill
worked almost perfectly
>>64287502
Pretty common album but an essential
>>64287495
definitely not an OP
Just got these today
Im getting all Urfaust shit and waiting for the new stuff incoming
original pressings
Rate current collection
I'm new to vinyl collecting. I have a few first pressings and reissues.
Should I keep collecting first pressings or new unused reissues? The reissues have better packaging and easy to find in %100 mint condition. I'm torn.
These are not even recent but i spent 200 dollars last time at the store so im cooling off for awhile now..
>>64287751
Intermission is really a perfect Ep, love that transparent vinyl
>>64288502

>>64288517

>>64289297

Ordered a reproduction of this for 40 bucks.

>>64288876
just buy as may records as you need and play them, you're not a record dealer.
>>64289486
I'm not buying to resell them, but what should I pick when both mint repressings and used vg+ original pressing are about the same price? Also I don't have a record player yet and probably won't have one anytime soon.
>>64289580
If you don't have a record player might as well buy original pressings if they are the same price
what up guys i'm buying CDs don't have a CD player though lol
>>64289708
What CDs?
>>64289580
In that case I buy the new ones, but then I only buy and listen to records, not because Fedora, I just always did.
Save for a record player, buy once and fuck the 'upgrade path' unless you become well off. Try and find a good used Technics 1200.
>>64289708
CDs don't exist m8
>>64289400
Hex enduction and Chairs missing are original pressings, the rest are reissues.
Glad i found Levitate though even if its unofficial, but its hard to get on vinyl.
These two
>>64289791
>buy once and fuck the 'upgrade path' unless you become well off
That's my plan. Thanks for the tips.
>>64289662
Yeah, original pressings have their charm and my plan was to buy used original pressings all along but their sleeves look poorer compared to the high quality gatefold repressings they're selling nowadays so they kind of make me have second thoughts.
Last few purchases
>>64289916
I've got the original Levitate, only because I bought it at the time and everybody had abandoned them by then. I never got the 'it's shit' thing, it's fucking great.
>>64289916
nice. i have original pressings of most of those except for Torch.
yeah, that one is hard to find. i also got the Real New Fall LP on RSD
>>64289791
What's a good price for a used Technics 1200?
mmm
>>64288502
>not available & eskimo on vinyl
HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG GIMME GIMME GIMME
>get 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' on vinyl a couple months ago.
>record keeps skipping on "Star" on the 2nd side despite being new
>return it for a new one
>same goddamn thing
>>64290298
I'm in GB, so I only know here. Probably £250-300, which is a lot of dollarydoos. But then again, they are tanks and built about five times better than anything you can get for that price. The speed doesn't go because it's direct drive, they sound great and people make upgrades to them that can sound amazing.
They based it on really top end hifi decks of the time, then sold shitloads, so you're getting a great deal. You can also buy another one and DJ. These decks will never die.
Most recent.
>>64286896
are you rambling old guy from /ck/ ?
no new vinyl, but i got a tape in the mail (it's my bloody valentine, sorry for the shit quality)
>>64290354
Lol i saw that at my record store
>>64290408
What turntable do you have
>>64290973
What this guy said. Sounds like your table is having a hard time with the content.
Recently picked up King Crimson's in the wake of Poseidon and Big Black's Songs about fucking.
and I found a cheapo copy of Turn On The Bright Lights this afternoon
Rock & elsewhere and Hole are both original prints.
>>64291583

r8 my auction score

cont.
I'm pretty sure I was the only person at the auction place who knew who Public Image Ltd. was.
>>64290973
Corsley
>>64292991
cont. paid $15 for all of this. Most of what I've played so far is in great shape. Moving Pictures had a little bit of crackle and Van Halen was a little warped, but may be salvageable.
>>64293057
4/4. Some random stuff finish out the box lots. I don't usually care about 45's but that Stevie Wonder is kinda cool.
All these belonged to Julie Applebaum, her name is on a few sleeves and the mail-in insert to Frankenchrist is addressed to her. Thanks for your collection Julie, I'll take good care of it.
This is my collection
+eno tape

My nigga
How much do you pay for a vinyl, on average? I don't really collect (I do have a pretty big collection, since I can buy like 100 obscure albums from a yardsale for $5), but when I was looking at a bin at a pawn shop, even the worn, or unpopular albums were more than $10.
>>64293038
That would be why
Things that wouldn't skip on a solid turntable can skip on a Crosley or similar turntable
>>64293223
It depends on how much I like the album, I try to keep it around $20
>>64290356
You can pick up Not Available for like $15 on Amazon dude...
>>64287089
>>64291769
>>64293274
Crop your photos slightly before posting them so people don't have to break their necks to see your shit taste
>>64293223
I've spent $8-10 on maybe a dozen albums that I really wanted, but I've never gone over $10. I like a lot of fairly rare old records but they're almost all outside of the types of records with high collector demand atm, so whenever I do find one they tend to be pretty cheap. (A lot of old bluegrass & acoustic music in particular
Bottom left is The Drift- Scott Walker and bottom right is Brian Eno and David Byrne- My life In the Bush of ghosts
>>64295077
Fuckin nice
>>64293133
good job, darklands alone is probably worth over 15 so thats pretty good.

>>64295195
Some 2004 Italian reissue for Modern Dance
>>64293223
I mostly hit up the thrift stores, bought 16 records the other day for $3 each, mostly classic rock (Boston, Styx, Supertramp, Yes, Led Zepplin, Rush) and some 80s stuff all in great shape. On occasion I will by a new release of something I like, but hunting at thrifts is much more fun since you never know what you will find and its cheap.
>>64295317
This
My latest grabs, got them all from charity shops, didn't pay more than two britbucks for any one of them
Charity shops/thrift stores are the best places to buy records because you'll expect to sift through stacks of TV theme song records and instead find the odd nugget of gold
of course taste is all relative, my collection is mostly dadrock and classical which isn't to everyone's liking
>>64293274
thats a nice table brah
>>64296662
The last thrift shop I went into must have received a fresh batch of records, all the usual Christmas albums and other shit were cleared out and it was all 70s and 80s goodness in good condition.
>>64296662
I've found many dozen of classic rock and pop album in thrift stores but if I ever found Straight Outta Compton at one I'd be pretty hype. This biggest problem where I am in rural USA is many thrift stores are run by religious charities with a mostly older conservative christian donor base, so in addition to the standard easy listening you have to sift through everywhere there's also tons and tons of evangelist recordings and old-time christian music.
Like this fucker here, I see him 500 times everytime I go out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u67Lb1RyXTU
you get to fucking hate Tennessee Ernie Ford if you dig through the charity bins around here long enough.
>>64296917
My last haul was from a local religious charity, they put anything out and get donations from all around the city. It's 90% shit, but if you hit it at the right time and beat the flippers to the new stuff you can score some good albums.
>see pic, I have seen this fucker so many times, it's literally in every thrift shop, usually a few copies too.
>>64296662
I found Outkast and a bunch of backrapper Anticon rap albums at a thrift store once. So out of place next to all the Barbara Streisand and Cher albums.
>>64297024
And probably unplayed too since everybody just bought it for the cover.
>>64289404
Interesting, didn't know about this so thanks for sharing.

Finding Winter in America for $2 was nice, the cover is beat up but the record plays excellent.
