greatest rock album imo

i don't know i just fucking love it so much, i've never listened to anything as consistent as OKC. All the tracks are so fucking powerful, and it just make you feel like you're floating, i guess derealisation is really the best way to describe it. My other favorite is Exile on Main Street , which is basically the complete opposite, but also extremely consistent.

Also, it doesn't really make me feel depressed, just makes me feel happy and relaxed
>>

>>64166668

i'm always stunned that people don't think climbing up the walls is like, far and away the best song from ok computer. it's probably in the top 3 songs they've ever recorded.

Paranoid Android got a bit stale desu, overplayed it when I first got into the album, and Lucky is so good, don't know why you have it so low

Good ranking, although i'd place In Limbo higher
>>
>>64166966
I get everything you're saying i went through a period where i claimed it was the greatest album ever.

you dont think the music is very anxious sounding? it feels very chaotic but with very nice production

They're both great songs it's just they become a bit cliche
Lucky gets a little too sentimental and Climbing up the Walls is a bit too SPOOK SPOOK LMAO ya know
>>
>>64167045
It's been my favorite album for like 3 years, so it's not like I just got into it this week

Yeah i guess it can be anxious and depressing, definitely not a happy, easy-listening album, but that doesn't mean it's can't be great. And I feel like chaotic was exactly what they were going for. Kid A is even more unsettling imo, that shit takes you somewhere else

I definitely really like it, I love this whole album, but it's just a slower song and it reminds me of something off Licensed to Ill (but better). I never really liked the rock sounding songs that they did, but it's still a really good song. It's one of my least favorites on the album, but I'd still give it like an 8.5/10

this is actually a really good and valid criticism of ok computer that I don't see people talk about too often. it's hugely emotional but I really don't think it's as nuanced as stuff like in rainbows is, emotionally. it's very focused on massive musical climaxes and the constant theme of depression can be somewhat exhausting if you're not vibing with it.

still a 10/10 album though, for me.

That may be true, but you gotta admit that OK Computer is much more consistent in it's track quality than In Rainbows. I don't really enjoy Bodysnatchers, Faust Arp, House of Cards, or Videotape, yet there isn't a single song on OKC I don't like (well, Fitter Happier, but im not sure if it counts)
>>
>>64167572
That's actually a solid order, I'd put Caroline No over Don't Talk but semantics

i really like that the album is about existential philosophy and coping in the 21st century, but after awhile you just want to feel happy again, and let down takes so long to get around to its reassuring message, its just an all around draining experience because it elevates you so high.

this is my favorite album

Keep On Lying is my favorite song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7X8N9INbmQ

"I guess I’ll go and tell you just as soon as I get to the end of this song". Actually, Keep On Lying is a never-ending song with no specific beginning nor ending. And so are his lies to the girl he's talking to. the end of the song is the same as the beginning and that's why he keeps on lying

And "It was noon, now my shadow’s long". Another lie as noon is the only moment of the day where sun is at its highest point in the sky, thus anyone standing under it will never have a "long shadow". To me Keep on lying sounds as an echo to "Sun's coming up", when he finally stop lying.
>>
>>64167572
Good order, although Here Today has always been a favorite of mine

I never got how Pet Sounds is so many people's favorite album on /mu/, I mean it was brilliant on first listen, but it kinda loses it's magic upon re-listens, maybe it's just me
>>
>>64167744
yeah definitely, I think ok computer is easily better than in rainbows but when people criticize the record I rarely see them bring up something where I can actually see an issue with it.

I do love bodysnatchers though, honestly one of my favorites from in rainbows. but yeah house of cards is nonsense and faust arp is essentially a more song-oriented interlude. I like videotape also.
>>
>>64167888
Keep on Lying is amazing, my second favorite Tame Impala track (Runaway Houses City Clouds is my fav), great album too
>>
>>64167912
Yeah, I felt the same way. I never saw anything wrong with OK Computer, but that dude brought up a great point that I never really thought about, it seems like every track is an emotional build up, still my favorite album though

Meat is Murder

I couldn't give any intelligent argument for why it's my favourite, but it's the album that engages me most and I'm unironically a vegetarian because of it. Meat is Murder is the only track I don't enjoy every time, and the rest are all really close together

Wrong breadcrumb trail is number 1. Best lyrics without being edgy like don aman or washer. I mean the theme of a young man refusing to face his future and rather have mindless fun is genius (when he refused to get his fortune read and rather went on the rollercoaster). The music fits the roller coaster ride perfectly. It is the perfect metaphor for youthful recklessnes (sex heavily hinted at). He was looking for the pirate ship but because of his immaturity he ruined his future ("scattered remnants of the ship could be seen in the distance" -good morning captain). The entire story is genius once you get it
