I love these threads and I havent properly played video games in years. I hope tomorrow is better for you than today clearly was.
League of Legends

SMiLE Sessions = Mother 3
>>64162338
any pro game really
DEFCON
>>64162323
should be super mario 64
>>64162136
fuck you earthbound is good
What's the dark souls of music?
Ocarina of Time
>>64162309
it might be 'good', but not good enough to be a Mario game and certainly not even close to being good enough to follow up SM64. I don't have any nostalgia goggles for Sunshine, I was like 17 or 18 when it came out.
>>64162418
>>64162418
Bland, complicated, samey shit that gets released frequently under a different guise that's insanely popular among semi-intellectuals. Probably Swans.
>>64162467
Well you clearly have them for SM64. That game controls like a... shitty old car.
>>64162418
I mean, DS's soundtrack has like 3 good songs and the rest are just chanting with a bland orchestral composition, so probably classical or minimalist music.
What is the video game equivalent of sonic youth's daydream nation?

Truthfully and honestly now, Sunshine aged better than 64.
Super Mario 64 was impressive when it was new, and is still interesting from the perspective of how many clever ideas and solutions it had to tackling the new 3D format, but by today's standards it's clunky, primitive and awkward.
Like, majority of the game is just playing the same level six times over, often doing more or less the same thing (reach the most remote and hard-to-access point and do something), some levels barely have any thoughtful design behind them. Like fucking Lethal Lava Land, it's literally a fucking test level with lava.
Also doesn't help that the Nintendo 64 controller is fucking garbage.
>>64162372
this. just look at those song titles

What would be the equivalent album to Hotline Miami?
>>64162577
Cave Story
>>64162577
this is what popped in my head when i read your question. Other grandpas might remember this NES classic
>>64162674
Wow so hard
>>64162467
Sunshine is a much better game than 64, in terms of gameplay, level design, and graphics.
>>64162674
Literally any synthwave album ever
>>64162171
love this album. game looks great too; gonna give that a try.
GTA V
Animal Crossing GC maybe, but just in vibe. I'd love to hear an album that has the same quirky bossa nova sound.
>>64162693
I'll give you better graphics, but you're obviously trolling if you think Sunshine > 64
I mean, 64 is practically DSOTM
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
>>64162334
>I hope tomorrow is better for you than today clearly was.
mad chirps bruh
>>64162769
And we all know Dark Side of the Moon is vastly overrated and inferior to the follow-up Wish You Were Here.
>>64162740
I don't really see the connection, can you explain?
>>64162136
This is perfect, I used to associate these two as well
>>64162674
outrun by kavinsky
This for me
Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness
>>64162136
cod :^)
>>64162833
it's not overrated though, there's no point calling it the best Pink Floyd album because it's understood. The real argument is which is 2nd best: Animals(SM3), Meddle(SM2), WYWH(SMWorld)
>>64162503
this 2bh
Melee
>>64163134
>Melee
CttE is better suited for something like Dota.
Sonic '06
Bloodborne, or Dark Souls.
>>64163189
>Something that was once great became a hollow corps of itself.
Yeah that's pretty spot on I'd say.
>>64163134
Nah, Super Smash Bros is Gorillaz. Highly popular crossover project with sporadic sequels. Very popular at parties.
First game is self-titled, classic everyone dug as kids.
Melee is Demon Days, insanely popular and hardcore fans are still making a fuzz about it.
Brawl is Plastic Beach, major update that changed some stuff and went overboard in other aspects, splitting the fanbase.
Sm4sh will be the new album, and I guess the 3DS game is the Fall or whatever.
>>64163003
Pretty spot-on actually. Nice job anon
Persona 4
>>64163034
i can kinda see it, but why do you make that connection
I'd say more like The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me or Masked Dancers
>>64163890
>Themes of relationships/death
>Centers around youth
>Themes of growing up
>The happy moments are high and the sad moments are miserable
>LONG
>One moment it's a light fun time (Junpei being a goofball, 1979) next moment it's just depressing (Shinji... Zero)
>Can be viewed as EDGY to some.
>Ends with sleep, ends with Farewell and Goodnight.
>"We Only Come out at night" "Tonight Tonight" Lots of night in both.
>"In The Arms of Sleep" Dat ending...
>>64164386
Also "Thirty-Three" is full of Jesus references.
>>64162272

>>64164736
good 1
>Grim Fandango
>>64165132
>Shadow of the Colossus
Metroid Prime
>>64162769
I'm not trolling. I like sunshine better because it actually feels like a different mario game, that's what I like about it. I also like galaxy better than 64 too.
X3: Terran Conflict
>Mother 3
or anything by Homeshake
Majora's Mask
actual shadow of the colossus incoming
theres two songs on the album about the game
Lisa The Painful RPG
>>64166382
but the album sounds nothing like the game feels
Skyrim
Faster Than Light goes well with Sweet Trip - You Will Never Know Why
>>64165212
This is great sleeping music
Fallout 2.
... because the guy who made the OST for the game ripped off a bunch of AFX tracks.
