Will pop-punk ever be mainstream again?
>>
>>64135468
Hopefully no.
>>
glam metal > pop punk > nu metal > post grunge > shit > scenecore
>>
>>64135613
Agree.
Fucking annoying.
>>
>>64135468
HEY MOM THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE BACKROOM
>>
Pop-Punk is going to make a come back and i cant wait!
>>
5 Seconds of Summer have a few hits. They're more pop than punk but they're still part of the genre.
Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco are still popular, but they don't make pop punk anymore.

Literally the only band to survive pop punk was fall out boy and weezer. He even panic at the disco who were the poster boys of the emo scene have dropped off the face of the planet.

There will never be another golden age of pop punk. Kerrang is left with neck deep and sleeping with sirens. Rip

i have a friend that makes Blink-182 inspired music and it sounds just like them, he also knows how to write and annoying/catchy hook.

So don't be suprised if pop punk makes a comeback

>He even panic at the disco who were the poster boys of the emo scene have dropped off the face of the planet.
They (more like he) just released a new album a few months ago and it did really well. The first single even became their second Top 40 hit ever.

>>64137197
Blink songs are super fun to play on guitar
>>

Come to the NW. It's getting popular again. I have no fucking clue why.
>>
>>64137195
What about A Day To Remember? They're popular aren't they?
>>
>>64137195
Weezer and pop punk aren't a thing.

I unironically still enjoy some nu metal shit and dont think its nearly as bad as people make it out to be

especially early mushroomhead. i like how their music sounds like shit from a david lynch movie
>>
>>64135613
I think the culture developed a resistance to it. It definitely couldn't come back in a form exhibiting a lot of the qualities it gets mocked for.

The kids who grew up with it were all schooled by the process of the internet dispensing cultural correctives and going to college / migrating more to urban areas so that most of the pop punk / emo / scene kids graduated to indie or something else.

The increasing value of information capital has made 'ignorant' (and therefore (memetic-evolutionary-flawed) genres like this obsolete.

P!ATD is fucking huge mate
>>
Dude Ranch and Enema of the State are better than your favorite albums. FACT
>>
>>64135468
As long as edm or any other no-talent, hit play on a laptop bullshit dies I don't care. I'm so tempted to join that faggotry and dominate.
>>
>>64140918
I like them somewhat at their most poppy, but not as punk but as kind of a hyperreal, almost happy hardcore-like listen
>>
>>64137632
Omg that furfag
>>
>>64135468
Nope, considering most Pop Punk nowadays is either on the top 40 or shitty warped tour bands catering to 12 year olds.
>>
>>64141055
>Pop Punk nowadays is either on the top 40 or shitty warped tour bands catering to 12 year olds.
and that isn't considered mainstream?
>>
>>64135670
>nu meta > anything

Kill yourself.
>>
>>64141112
Right, guess I misinterpreted it as "Will pop-punk ever be good again".
>>
>>64141112
Yeah but things have to start with some approximation of perceived relevance - unless it's girlpop which exists fixed at a stage near the end of the process. There's no way to pitch credible pop punk now that could renew it from the vantage point of the cutting edge, it's understood as something 'later' and less relevant by its very nature.

i liked that jeff rosenstock album and say anything just came out with an album that i liked

>tfw will never listen to pop-punk before it became mainstream
>>
I know they've used "What Do I Get" by The Buzzcocks in a Toyota commercial once, and you hear The Ramones in lots of TV commercials, but I'll be convinced that pop punk is main stream when I hear songs from Milo Goes to College by The Descendants either in a TV commercial, or pleb radio stations that cater to the general populace who don't know exactly what music they really DO like, because somebody HAS to tell them what they like, and what to buy.
>>
You mean it's not mainstream? That garbage genre is fucking everywhere, every fucking local band ia the aame generic pop punk band

The Wonder Years looked like they had something going with The Upsides, but their new stuff has kinda went more alternative, I still enjoy it though.

>>64145595
>>64146777
These anons get it
>>
>>64147596
Bands you've called are more twinkly, shoegaze, emo, youth crew, melodic hardcore than pop punk.
But still i prefer to agree with you than with anons, who called P!ATD, fall out boys (what a piece of shit), a day to remember. These are mediocre at best.

I liked this
