Requesting a girlfriend.
I've searched my life's archives but couldn't find one.
What is some good melancholic jazz?

Why is the Charlie Parker Omnibook on here? It's a collection of transcriptions. Not an album. Granted, you could obtain a copy of the book itself and see what recording the transcription is from. I think it's better to just listen to some of his more well known tunes.

Honestly >>64113022 is the best idea. It is easy and mostly safe. Still, will be posting a link to an album soon, so wait a bit.
To find interesting albums maybe go to Allmusic and go into the similar albums of any Jazz one. Take note of both the ratings of staff and users, but don't just follow blindly.
For a recommendation: Freddie Hubbard-Straight Life.

Clark Terry-Color Changes
Supossedly FLAC. Sounds decent enough.
Terry was an American swing and bebop trumpeter, a pioneer of the flugelhorn in jazz.
One of my fav Jazz albums (but what do I know), full of emotion and swing.

Same results but less complicated.
Masayuki Takayanagi - Complete La Grima (320, 1971)
>Free Jazz, Improv, Noise
a live show by noisemakers in japan, at a festival essentially in protest of land development, the audience were not prepared for this.
>"The performance, fully released here for the first time on this CD, was a fiery, propulsive affair and the reaction to it was in like kind. As briefly summarized in the album notes the band was jeered, criticized, and had various items thrown at them while playing, and chants of "go home" erupted after they finished."

Not a big Jazz listener myself but someone posted this in a previous Jazz general and I really loved the fusion style.

Amazing album!
listen to a lot of stuff, get slsk and just download stuff every once in a while, listen to it once or twice and download more... listen for similarities, download critically acclaimed albums of the musicians you liked, know whos playing on the record... look up ratings on RYM, listen to old and new stuff as well...
and yeah that chart is pretty good
>>64113022
kind of blue is a pretty good start, you can start exploring from there - if you like the pianist, listen to some of his stuff, if you liked miles, get some miles from that period or something earlier or later... its a journey
also it matters how you listen to it. dont let the music wash over you, there is no point in listening to this stuff when its just sitting in the background without being payed attention to. this is true especially for bop or melody-based free jazz (like Colemans the new shape).
if you are looking for some "easier" or background-ier jazz, ECM (label) is a good point, especially Eberhard Weber or Jan Garbareks more ambient records. its not your typical jazz, but it has the elements and its fun to listen to as well without being too demanding.
another label I like is ACT, german contemporary. esbjörn svensson trio, lars danielsson, rudresh mahanthappa are on that label... this modern jazz is less demanding and can be more fun, the production plays a big role as well (older records dont sound as pristine of course)
its a confusing post I believe, just some sketches of my mind. tldr just listen to stuff, you cant fuck it up
