Yes.

17 is too old to be listening to Yung Lean.

>say you're from 18 to 25 y.o. on 4chan
"hey kiddo, time to go to bed"
>say you're from 26 to 30+ y.o. on 4chan
"sup gramps, what's your favorite dadrock band"

I don't give a shit, OP, just don't say it explicitly.

Nah. Yung Lean is one of the most interesting rappers in the game. His first album pretty much became a meme, but it's a solid album. Warlord really grew on me, a couple of pretty awful tracks (like afghanistan), but some fucking amazing ones aswell. Hoover is great. And I'm pretty sure there's no better track in the world to be really drunk/high and lose your shit to with your best friends than this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOFw2UPLdPk
>>
I find his new style obnoxious to be honest. Hoover is a banger but his new album is just a mess. His old bucket hat sadboys meme style got old too. He's in a dilemma right now.

Didn't that Asian cat end up getting deported from Sweden?
>>
I'm 29.

Yes it's far to old. If you can grow facial hair you're too old.

Seriously, what is wrong with you?
Do you usually lurk at /r9k/pol/?

40 year old men watch 21 year olds run around throwing balls at each other to see who can do it the most to win millions of dollars.

id say being a 31 year old fan of someone trying to push culture forward is actually less embarrassing than watching a roided up 23 year old throw a ball around.

Idk, 20-22 is the only respectable age on 4chan 2bh.

But he "raps" about the trials and tribulations of teenagers
>>
>>64095538
Not sure actually, I think he got to stay

Basically for me, a lot of hip hop has become really generic and unoriginal. Kendricks TPAB is hailed as this amazing, 10/10 hip hop album, and it's not bad at all, it's just not very innovative. And that's fine, I'll bump it from time to time and it's a good album. But it's just that.

Rappers like Lean, bladee etc., aswell as Death Grips, Lil B, Kanye, and a hand full of others are the only ones actually pushing rap forward and not just regurgitating the same sound we've heard for a long time. Sometimes it's 90's inspired like TPAB, or it's just the same old trap shit, but it's all so safe. Atleast Lean makes different stuff, and you gotta respect that.

You're in your peak physical form in your 20s so watching top athletes in their 20s perform at the highest level in their sport is pretty damn interesting. Not at all comparable to listening to some internet only famous swedish underage slack rapper.
>>

>it's just not very innovative

I found TPAB to be very innovative and enjoyable. The incredible high production value and the blend of genres, not to mentions Kendrick's impeccable rapping makes it an amazing hip-hop album.

>Death Grips, Lil B, Kanye

You can't compare these people to fucking Yung Lean, that's insulting. Those people have left their mark on the genre. Some swedish meme rapper who got famous mainly for his dreamy instrumentals isn't at all at that level of innovation or influence.
>>
>>64095644
Like I said, TPAB is a good album, but I wouldn't call it innovative in a million years. What blend of genres are you talking about?

>You can't compare these people to fucking Yung Lean

I think I can, obviously both kanye and lil b are much bigger and more impactful rappers, never said they weren't, but they're similar in the way that they don't make hip hop that sounds like all other hip hop out there.

Yung lean might've been a "meme-rapper", but he definitely isn't anymore. I mean, isn't it crazy that a couple of kids from Sweden makes hip hop WAYS ahead of big producers who've done it for a long time? You mention the beats, yes, absolutely they're part of what makes Yung Lean Yung Lean. Because they're fucking different. Yung Gud and Whitearmor makes the production on TPAB sound like stock loops called "Hip Hop Beat 14".
>>
>>64095644
Ye, we'll see about that in 30-40 years. SBE, Gravity Boys and others are going get cult underground status. New age kiddos are only going to wish they were on the internet having fun shitposting S A D B O Y S. I know it sounds ridiculous but the way world is developing with internet its not far from happening.
>>
>>64095726

>What blend of genres are you talking about?

Jazz Rap, West Coast, Soul, Boom Bap, Trap

The production style is very unique and organic. A total depurate from the sound of GKMC. It actually sounds like there was effort put into it. Not just some FL Studio fucking around.

>Yung Gud and Whitearmor makes the production on TPAB sound like stock loops called "Hip Hop Beat 14"

You can't be serious. I've heard the exact same style of beats like 5 years earlier. Cloud rap has been around for a while. All these producers for Yung Lean are basically just straight ripping of Clams Casino's style of production, I think they even said that in numerous interviews. Combine that with Yung Lean's nonsensical slack rapping and you have a 1:1 swedish copy of Lil B.

Lil B did it earlier and he did it better. I actually like some Yung Lean songs but in the grand scheme of things, he's irrelevant and his new album is a major disappointment and I've heard that from die-hard Lean fans.

>he still pays attention to lyrics

even if lyrics are deep and meaningful /mu/ will say its corny tryhard edgy shit, and if theyre for having fun and partying to, /mu/ will say theyre for teenagers.

lyrics dont matter
