Also, why do people say that the Pixies made the quiet loud dynamic? Gun Club and Violent Femmes pioneered it in the early '80s.

pixies fused it with the more traditional alt rock style, whereas those bands were more post-punk
they may have done it before the pixies, but the pixies proved more influential at it

I think that's generally well-known to any Gun Club fan, but it's not like Pixies just ripped it off, they at least did something original with it and pushed punk/alt-rock

i really like the live atmosphere but it annoys me how he ignores the cadence of his voice in the original recordings. im not expecting 1:1 performances but the way he goes about it kind of sours it for me
