just keep listening attentively/critically, exploring new idioms, and reading music criticism/history. p4k is generally worthless, but writers like scaruffi, lester bangs, mark prindle, allmusic (at times, anyway) can actually improve your understanding of music and its broader cultural significance. you'll make it there eventually but it requires some effort.
also make an effort to delve into classical. no music fan should avoid it.
