Has there ever been as unfortunate of an artist as George Harrison?

That's like saying Nick Mason is fortunate because he was in Pink Floyd.

Nobody cared about him and he was a mediocre drummer at best

what a tragedy, doomed to be one of the least discussed members of one of the most discussed bands of all time who literally made hundreds of millions of dollars playing music, sleeping with hundreds of women and travelling the globe in luxury

>Ringo is more popular

Not really. All Things Must Pass is a critically acclaimed masterpiece. Ringo's solo albums are all shit and none of them are memorable.
>>
>>64063107
he looks like grimes
>>
My grandfather was one of the longest running managers of the Beatles and still keeps in touch with Paul today.

Said Harrison was absolutely unimpressive in person and that ringo was legitimately fucking stupid and self absorbed. He said John was a complete smarmy jerk, and an attention seeker, too.
>>
>>64063565
None of that surprises me. Paul seems like the chillest, for sure.
>>
>>64063565
You are Brian Epstien's grandson?

Amazing since he didn't have any kids.

Fuck off to a greentext thread if you want to make shit up.
>>
>>64063603
Oh dang - forgot to mention why I'm saying this

In contrast to OP, who thinks Harrison was an underrated contributor, my grandfather said all their actual songs were either Lennon-McCartney or ghostwritten (early in their career).
>>
>>64063535
Have you ever listen to Ringo Rama, is probably the best Beatles solo album
>>
>>64063369
Every musician in a successful band is fortunate to be able to have music as their vocation, and not have to shit away 45 years in a shitty 9-5 like the rest of us plebs.
>>

I read their engineer Geoff Emerick's book about what it was like working with them and he said George was a thoroughly unpleasant, humorless guy who could barely even play his instrument and that Ringo's happy-go-lucky, jovial personality was all for show, and he was really a no-nonsense type behind the scenes.
>>
>>64063627
>ghostwritten (early in their career).
What are you talking about?
>>
>>64063624
No. Brian Epstein wasn't "just" a manager, he had a direct involvement in their careers. My grandfather worked with Capitol and helped the Beatles from 64 - 67, then some of Paul's solo career afterwards. Friends with Dick Lapalm. Why are you so aggressive?
>>
>>64063645
Too bad there are numerous errors in his book, and he's pretty much a McCartney drone/apologist

Paul is truly the greatest Beatle.
>>
>>64063647
He didn't literally say ghostwritten, he said some of their earlier material wasn't written by them. He could've easily been talking about their constant 50's covers.
>>
>>64063654

A lot of peoples dads work for Nintendo, its a multinational corporation with thousands of staff members.
>>
>>64063369
This is beyond stupid. If he's such a mediocre drummer yet wound up with a full time job in one of the most widely beloved and highly acclaimed bands ever then he is the living definition of fortunate.

>George was a thoroughly unpleasant, humorless guy
>George funded Monty Python AND The Rutles while Paul was the only Beatle who didn't give his blessing

Also to the guy who's saying his grandfather was a manager, give us a name. There are Beatles biographies that describe their lives day by day, if what you're saying's true, he'd have had to pop up in one eventually.
>>

Have you ever sucked Heathers stump?
>>
>>64063645
I've read it too, and what you say in the context of the whole book is pretty accurate but a little misleading.

>George was a thoroughly unpleasant, humorless guy who could barely even play his instrument
They barely got to know each other at all despite working together for almost ten years. IIRC they didn't have what either would call a heart-to-heart moment until that one time when they were making Abbey Road. Also yes, Paul did have to fill in for George on occasion. For example many people don't know that the guitar solo you hear on Taxman was played by Paul.

>Ringo's happy-go-lucky, jovial personality was all for show, and he was really a no-nonsense type behind the scenes.
The impression I got was that this less means he was secretly a grumpy fuck and more means he took their studio time seriously when they were making music. He was professional.

> oooh I'm so mature and intellectual, I find monty Python quite humorous

Are you actually a boomer/grandpa or are you the autistic kid in your school?
>>
>>64064237
Oh yeah, cause Monty Python is known for being intellectual and hard to grasp, right? I'm guessing you think Family Guy is funny?

Seriously, what the fuck are you on about man. Trolling is supposed to be funny, you're obviously failing at that. Someone posted about how George was humorless, I posted two different (and popular) examples disproving this. You seem to be the autistic one here, the minute someone has taste that differs from your own they're either a grandpa or an autist. Either we're with you or against you in your small mind.

Im not sure what part you don't understand. If you unironically think that Monty Python is funny, you are either a grandpa, or a autistic redditor. Either way, go fuck off and watch Monty Python; have a nice chortle.
