Weird stuff. Love that scream in the intro though. Keyboardist is pretty hot too.
>>
>>64063003
What kind of music is this exactly? I kinda like it.
>>
>>64063007

Oh yeah The Fall are great. One of the more experimental yet slightly conventional post-punk groups. HEH is one of my favorite albums
>>
>>64062937
Pretty good. Simple and relaxing, but it's not really blowing me away or anything (not that it's trying to though) 7.5/10

just what i'm listening to atm

My mom and dad made a CD for my younger brother, and they put this song on it. We played that CD pretty frequently on family vacations, and it's stuck with me ever since https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThmkXSiaK-c

It's a subgenre of progressive rock called Zeuhl. Originally pioneered by a french band called Magma. Lyrics are usually sung in a false language written by the band, and it incorporates a lot of technical rhythm section work and sometimes operatic vocals. Generally the defining trait of the genre is the former though

If you enjoyed that (which is considered quite inaccessible even by the genre's standards due to how rapid and violent it is) try these

This was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this, I'm definitely going to be listening to this in the future
>>
>>64063137

It is. Zeuhl is a rather expansive subgenre and also has links to other genres of proge rock. Try out these. They're not exactly zeuhl but they're closely related to it.

Pretty dope, got kinda repetitive tho, not a big fan of the vocals either; vacuum cleaner in the music viedeo reminded me of Spaceballs
6/10
>>64062934
I really like the beats in old school, but don't really listen to rap very often (don't listen to lyrics in most songs)
5/10 (I'm not really a good judge of this tho)
>>64062937
chill as fuuuuuck
7/10
>>64062957
I like it, sounds like minimalist shoegaze (as in not too many instruments) or something. I'll have to check them out
7/10
>>64063003
haven't really gotten into Zeuhl, I like other subgenres of prog tho (Krautrock, whatever Genesis is). Sounds interesting but a bit all over the place, something I'll have to listen to a couple of times to get a taste for it prolly
?/10
>>64063213
I like the timbre of the guitar. Song has a pretty groovy feeling

In case you're wondering Genesis are considered symphonic progressive rock.

I've listened to Yes before, but never really liked them, maybe I'll just have to listen to more of their stuff. I like the kinda fairy-tale esque qualities Genesis has in some of their songs.

They have the same theatric quality that the song you posted has, although they aren't really exactly the same.

now those are some huge '80's drums. the melody's a bit predictable but nothing wrong with some inoffensive noise pop every now and then. kinda abandoned the genre 2 years ago. i would've loved the shit out of this back then. i used to get all of my recs from the noise pop podcast and the spinner free mp3 of the day podcast back then. both were heavy on this stuff.
>>
>>64063007
Interesting to see the Bowie influence on the lead singer.
Am I wrong?
>>
>>64063531
Ruins would fit that description better
>>64063542
Stop projecting
>>
>>64063515
The Gentle Giant song doesn't do it for me in the same way Musical Box does. I guess theatric is a good adjective as the song seems to change in pacing, melody, etc. to reflect the story it tells, but the Gentle Giant song just doesn't do it to the same degree imo.
King Crimson is good tho, very grand and stuff

I like this. It's quirky, but DESU not something I would regularly listen to.
>>
>>64063699
So you're basically looking at the very classical inspired styles of symphonic progressive rock.

Another similar sounding yet different King Crimson track
