you could argue that's because house and techno generally has more staying power than 'hardcore continuum' styles
the different scenes lives are reflected in the respective DJing styles, UK-style DJs do showy quick blends and spin backs and cut the bass out all the time, european techno DJs are less showy and let stuff 'evolve' in a mix, think in longer time frames, and just stuff like the off beat hi hat coming in is a big deal
