Because it's too hard to manage, unlike reddit. Their was a band a few years ago that tried to make one and it became a clusterfuck and the mods were deleting other threads, and accidentally deleted the AMA one a couple times. It's just too hard to coordinate with the way 4chan is. Also, the users will act like assholes and ruin everything, unlike with reddit where their mods monitor everything and quickly shoot down offensive bullshit.

Hiro's AMA was shit because the thread was just a stream of shitty posts without end that he couldn't wade through, and other AMAs like Andrew WKs were pretty bad because he had to dig through shit and give really short, lame responses so that he could answer more. It doesn't work with the format. Upboats allow users to bring questions to the attention of the special guest that more people want to have answered and are generally better posed than the other questions.
Because every AMA we've ever had turned to shit and the thread became unreadable because of the size.

Here's the thing: Reddit has a professional, corporate image that it keeps on its front page, but actually holds a lot of stormcuck//pol/ runoff under the surface, it's the kind of thing you'd never really even see if you just browsed the front page for a few minutes a day. The downside of all of this is that it's pretty much an idealogically contained vaccum on any given subreddit so it becomes a competition for who can pander to the most idiots in a contained group of idiots.
4chan however gives equal opportunity to all shitposts, so while there is the potential for me to open up /mu/ and be greeted by a legitimate discussion on music, I'm much more likely to encounter a picture of a massive cock even on a blue board.
Tumblr is cancer but you can pretty much see exactly what you want to see. Basically anything from white supremacist blogs to black supremacist blogs to pictures of cute animals to child porn.
