been going through shoegaze flowcharts trying to get into it. I am still on the fence, but I think I am starting to get it.
How do I, a meal pleb, get into shoegaze

you listen to Deafheaven, realize it's overhyped, and then move on to Whirr, Nothing, or A Place to Bury Strangers since they're more likely to appeal to metalheads

Imagine the song Burzum (or Dunkelheit if you prefer) but in a 90s alt rock context.
If that doesn't convince you then you're being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn.

can you post the flowcharts

I know a lot of metalheads like the energy of metal. It hypes them up, makes them excited, ready to slam their bodies together in a pit. Shoegaze is not like this. It is supposed to daze, to stupefy, to mindfuck. Also, it's much more sensual and open to femininity or androgyny. I think now that I recognize Varg in your pic that you may not have as much of a problem with stuff that isn't energetic, but I'd like you to reflect on whether nordic paleo-conservatism really fits you and whether you might want to stretch your identity to accommodate differing modes of expression.

Sounds like you know what you're talking about. Scares me.

>Whirr, Nothing, or A Place to Bury Strangers
Those are the most 'OK' bands I've ever heard in my life. So bland.

>Moonlover
>Sunbather
>Happyhouse
>Dream House
>Beneath the Shade Tree
>The Pecan Tree
Are they literally TRYING to rip off Sunbather?

I hope this is supposed to be sarcasm, like you're taking aim at my air of authority. Honestly I don't even listen to much shoegaze beyond "the classics" very often but Loveless is one of my favorite records. Listen to My Bloody Valentine and the other big bands. Listen to ambient techno like Boards of Canada. Listen to ambient like Gas - Pop. Listen to Sonic Youth. Listen to The Beach Boys. I guess like, shoegaze at its best should have this sense of grandeur but also intimacy. It should feel real nice on the ears too.
jesus christ just listen to weighing souls with sand by the angelic process
