I went through a few of them to get a taste. Merriweather post pavilion, painting with, sung tongs, peacebone, they all suck equally bad though. Like I said, sounds like Fun and neon indian had a baby that was twice as bad. I actually like Neon Indian. I think the singer is to whiny and they come off as trying really hard to be experimental and psychadelic but it just looks like an ad on the disney channel or something one of those edgy blue haired hipster girls smoke weed to.

Well I've never been big on watching music videos, but I think it's pretty good music. Sung Tongs is my favorite, and all the guitar layering and traditional-influenced vocals and percussion are really nice. They have a whole lot of diversity in there catalog, so there could be something you like in there. But, you're right, at the end of the day it is a subjective preference. I never saw them as forced or anything though.

I think Animal Collective's range is so great that you can't really say you hate them based on "just listening" to them. If you heard Sung Tongs or STGSTV you probably wouldn't even enjoy it on first listen. If you heard SJ or MPP go further back. If you actually listened to their whole discography and still think they suck that amazes me. Even if you don't like how it sounds you should be able to appreciate the development of music over the years, the raw emotion in some of their songs. Hopefully this was a meme thread because it genuinely confuses me that someone would listen to AnCo once and say they're terrible
