I think it's a quote from Twin Peaks.

>>64023441
It's a quote from Twin Peaks. It's how Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) likes his coffee
>>64023407
Ah, ok. I'm not the best at giving recs, my taste is sort of basic.
>hot cocoa with marshmallows

What have you listened to so far? What have you liked? Disliked?
>>64024624
yeah but to be honest I didn't like it very much at all. It sounds incredibly put on and ingenuine to me. I like his Lerchenmusik and Szeroka Woda though. Miserere too, to some extent.

I've started to play bass in my school's jazz band, and it's pretty fun, so I decided to look at some more stuff relating to it. I heard Kind of Blue was a good starting point, so I picked that up, and to be honest, it seems like a piece that I might need some background info on to appreciate more (like Blackstar or some of Joy Division's work except how it was composed instead of lyrically speaking), so I checked out some stuff regarding it. The idea of most all of it being improv seems really cool, but so far I've only really clicked with So What (I played Freddie Freeloader in the band and I wasn't the biggest fan of that, although it might have been adapted instead of the original thing, so I'll check that out.) I guess it's something that'll take more time to click, and I might need something that grabs my attention more.

Well, then. That was a dead end. I always like to try to give you recs, Boku, because you're always a bro, but I think my well has run dry. I'm gonna just take a stab in the dark here: You ever listen to the Fez soundtrack by Disasterpeace?
>>64024770
Ah, so you're at the very beginning of jazz. If you haven't listened to it yet, you need to check out John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. It's a pretty standard starting point for jazz, but it's also really fucking amazing. I know a lot of people who first fell in love with jazz from that album. If you're starting out with jazz bass, then Charles Mingus is your man. Mingus Ah Um is a great starting point for his stuff. It's fun but still pretty accessible. If both of those are still too out there for you, then give a listen to some BIll Evans. Sunday at the Village Vanguard is super easy jazz listening, but it's also really fantastic. If all else fails, then listen to Dave Brubeck's Time Out. It's fun and easy to listen to. Most non-jazz fans love that album.
