I like how I can follow the path of artists and they all lead to one another. Like because you like x you liked y, then because you liked y you liked z, and so on. But maybe I'm wrong and there was no real connection like that.

>>
>>64021625
OP here, just came back to check the thread before bed. Yeah, I realized that it was self-centered after a few posts into the thread. I still think that "list bands that have been your favorite" is a fun exercise, but I should have added something else to the thread, like "steer others into uncharted territories with recommendations". Next time I'll add that element to the thread and hopefully it will be better.

Chronologically:

When I was a little shitter: The people who sung Macarena. After that a shitty Dutch singer who made his career out of plagiarism: Marco Borsato

After that I had a small period where I hated music. After that I had a small period when Daniel Bedingfield and Justin Timberlake were my favorite artists.

Then again a period where I hated music. When I was 10 or so I again started listening to shitty Dutch music and liked Jan Smit and a terrible rapper named Ali B.

Then I started checking out music myself and in the two years after that I got into hip hip but only the mainstream radio stuff:

DMX
Busta Rhymes
Chamillionaire

After that, I got taste (although I still appreciate Chamillionaire) and started digging on the internet. Got into a lot of Hip Hop in a short time. Favorite artists changed a lot:

Wu Tang Clan
Nas
Lupe Fiasco
Wiz Khalifa (Before he sold out with Black and Yellow and all that shit)
Curren$y

Finally I discovered other music and found my musical self, although I needed to dig through some shitty Indie bands at first

The Kooks
Bloc Party
Queens of the Stone Age

As of today, it's still Queens of the Stone Age, with D'Angelo following as a close second, and Black Milk, Kylie Minogue and Mastodon after that. But I don't know if my favorite band will really change the upcoming time.
