To the anon that posted their album Hednoise in the last thread, just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying it, halfway through the last track now and really digging it in particular. Around the beginning there was a more ambient part that made me think of a noisier Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, really enjoyed the big rhythmic section too. The drone metal-sounding part after it is really good too, I think it's a welcome addition to the track. I've done similar sludge/drone/black metal inclusions on some of my tracks to pretty good ends and I see you doing the same. Also, that "ear-splitting" part at the end of the third track was a welcome addition.
My advice would be to keep doing what you're doing and continue to find sounds that you enjoy making. You made some pretty cool moods on this album. The field recording stuff that I noticed really added to it too, like the grocery store checkouts.

Dual Action is a cool project. Conceptually it is bizarre and really interesting. First releases seemed to be a juxtapositioning of car parts and sex, then Nightmare Angel comes along and describes a man's descent into insanity as he drunkenly drives through and explores a place like Vegas

So apparently Eric Wood from Bastard Noise is starting drama with some guy called Crowhurst for having a shitty PA system. There was a pic up of Eric saying he hopes he gets hit by a train but now it's down.

Yeah, it's thematically a really interesting project. Quite Ballard-esque.
The Auto Body collage artwork(though I have no idea if it was put together by Folden; it actually seems quite reminiscent of Fernow's style)is particularly interesting in the wider context of collage art techniques and themes as utilized by a lot of industrial and noise artists, where the projects' conceptual orientations are often built around really severe and brutal presentations of societal and sexual decay and extremism, political violence etc.

The artwork in DA's case seems to me to have a similarly perverse and dystopian bent to it, but ironically the choice of building the project around something as mundane and typical of everyday existence as automobile parts actually gives it more impact and more depth than just going with generic themes of gore, degenerated sex and industrial malaise.

>>64004513

this is something I particularly enjoy in a number of noise aesthetics. where an artist applies the same fetishistic interest normally reserved for sex/gore to something really mundane. iirc part of the reason prurient uses that name is so that any typically normal piece of art his name is applied to takes on a vague sense of the perverse.

>>64023381
I was thinking more of a solo art book that would stand as its own thing separate from any other elements of the project like sound or writing, and from what I understand(don't actually own it myself, unfortunately) the Rose Pillar book and record were made as dependent on each other to provide a complete work.

do these magazines have names that would allow me to find scans? all I can find seems to be materials associated with some of his releases.
>>
>>64028821
No complete scans exist, only bits and pieces that have been posted by random people on their blogs and shit.
IIRC, the way they were printed and bound would result in them getting damaged through the scanning process and since the sizes of the editions were typically limited(50 copies each per the VS mags, 100 copies of the Prurient one) I guess that, understandably, nobody wants to do it and ruin their copies.

Anyway, the Vatican Shadow mags are called A Lie Must Tell A Single Story and Where The Story Falls Apart.
The Prurient one is called Changeless Blue Flame.

Depends on the medium and style of the artist or release(a muddy decades-old Grey Wolves tape, not to mention an MP3 rip of that tape, is bound to sound worse than a Puce Mary LP or Jason Crumer CD which came out last month), but for me noise is all about dynamics and tension and layering and new ways to manipulate frequencies, and with that sort of thing a quality pair of headphones is pretty crucial for a worthwhile listening experience.
I remember listening to noise on shitty headphones for years and then getting a pair of good ones and listening to the same albums with those was almost like hearing them for the first time again.

between the already mentioned noise explosion of the 2000s(during which time the occurrence of pitchfork hipsters showing up to a noise show, standing through a few of the first acts and then leaving before the main performer of the night even came onstage was actually not uncommon), the help of the internet and the current blurring of lines when it comes to the wider field of electronic music where you've got noise dudes getting into techno, techno dudes getting into noise, onetime wire magazine snobs getting into all sorts of grimy underground noise shit and so on, i think there's quite a bit of healthy and sincere interest going around for this sort of thing

Yeah, and I think that a CDJ is the only kind of player that will let you do that, based on what I've read about the way Tone made his album.

Those are the individual members' remixes of the s/t LP, right? That sounded like one of the most interesting parts of the box to me from the release announcement.

Anyone have those new JK Flesh tapes? (Suicide Estate / Antibiotic Armageddon)
>>
>>64038074
I know it's bandcamp noise, but there is one poster here that goes by Posies. I got some of their tapes a while back, and the synths sound really warm and colorful on it.

Also , I think some Skullflower would suit well too
>>
>>64040873
Get talking to artists beforehand, a split would be a good idea if you already have recorded material and want to make real world connections
>>
>>64046752
I think it'll be good practice for the future if we stop making it a point to differentiate noise from the entire group of "bandcamp" or digital only noise. There are good and bad examples of both, and differentiation should remain between good and shit noise so as to not totally caste digital only releases into some dusty corner. To automatically discount a release because it is digital only presumes that there isn't any value in the audio of noise, which obviously is not true. Once these threads get going again, we should revisit the hometown comp and actually talk about its merits instead of vomiting useless and irrelevant presuppositions.
>>
>>64047140
Digital noise or noise that makes heavy use of computers and software gets mentioned here regularly(though it's material produced by established artists, not random Bandcamp dudes or whatever), people just don't seem to be aware of it because the digital aspect isn't obvious in the way that it sounds.

>Once these threads get going again, we should revisit the hometown comp and actually talk about its merits instead of vomiting useless and irrelevant presuppositions.

I don't know man, I don't think it's a coincidence that the threads have been getting halfway decent just as all the meta shit related to posters and Bandcamp initiatives and whatnot has started to dissipate.

>>
>>64047233
I'm talking about digital releases, not digital noise, because the people here tend to wrongly denounce anything as garbage if it's not on a cassette label without ever actually criticizing the noise or its art itself. And these threads always die and come back around this time - it has nothing to do with the disappearance of bandcamp posters. People also tend to forget that we had a whole damn chart of our own homegrown noise and actively encouraged and discussed compilations and our own noise in the early days of this general. The only reason people are hesitant to talk about Hometown is because of the illogical stigma original content seems to have in these threads.

Cheers.

SJ are actually supposed to have another album coming out at some point soon according to Discogs. Maybe it's already out?

https://www.discogs.com/Sutcliffe-J%C3%BCgend-Masks/release/8365189
>>
>>64053074
Yes, it seems to be available from the label already. It features the noisier side of the group so it would provide a pleasing contrast to the rather brooding industrial on "The Muse". Unfortunately I didn't find a leak for it yet.
Coldspring also announced some kind of release regarding SJ but no more infos about it yet.
>>
>>64053162
It's gonna get ripped soon enough, I reckon.

>Coldspring also announced some kind of release regarding SJ but no more infos about it yet.

Sounds like a busy year for the band.
Maybe the WSOTG reissue is finally gonna see the light of day?
>>
>>64053331
I mean this: http://coldspring.co.uk/discography/csr209cd/#.Vw_6m6iLTIU (got somewhat delayed and according to the homepage release date is imminent)

And "Masks" gets his official release apparently on that mentioned festival, so I don't know if that means that it gets shipped after that date (24th of April) or already before.
>>

>>64053895
I have the 2014 Kleistwahr release, also looking for that one..
>>
>>64054341
On the vk-page of Posh Isolation (don't know if it's the official one) there's a digital upload of the Puce Mary album but since that's only in 192kbps I guess that's the reason why nobody has anything in higher quality. By now that's better than nothing or a shitty vinyl-rip.
>>
I feel it in my bones /noise/ - I will finally finish a debut release this summer
>>
>>64054437
Do you know if the LP comes with a download code?
>>

Unlikely. At least I've never encountered one. All higher quality leaks of Posh (which were only released analog) were usually by people with good gear ripping it.
