ITT: Albums you consider 2deep4u/smart/complex/intelligent
the lyrics are so over the top they just feel insincere, I don't like it when an album tries so hard.
you guys are serious?

>I don't like it when artist actually try and make something good.
>>63931924
>2017
>still getting meme'd on
>>63931861
I mean, the album is pretty straightforward.
I felt a lot of it pretty easily?
It's a great album but it's not particularly deep. Well ratherly complex. I find it deep enough.
>>63931930
>implying you need to combine every cliche possible in an album for it to be good
The parts in french especially are annoying, at least the girl has a good accent, but the guy. God.
>>63932032
>the girl has good accent
maybe because SHE IS FUCKING FRENCH?
>>63931861
I can never tell if this is a smart album or if it's jerking itself off over the POP CULTURE IS EVIL message. Sounds great either way, though.
>>63932032
You never said you didn't like how they combined so many different styles you said, and I quote;
>I don't like it when an album tries hard.
Which is probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen on /mu/ in my entire life.
>>63931861
Eh, I love Deathconsciousness, but there isn't much depth to it. Love the sound tho.
>>63932089
>wanting to combine every style possible + talking about every "big question" possible + parts in french with cliche lyrics + over the top poetry.
>not trying too hard to be relevant.
wew lad.

i feel you on that
some albums need chillspace.

I don't get what's wrong with an album "trying hard."
I mean God forbid some artist actually put effort into there work, right? I mean can you imagine how terrible it would be if an artist actually TRIED to be good?
>>63932335
there's a huge difference between putting effort, creativity, and work into a unique album and just trying to fill every art cred void they can.
>>63932405
They didn't fill the DIY or atonality art cred voids
>>63932335
I said it in my first post, the problem is it ends up feeling insincere. When I listen to a sad album I usually like capturing the feeling of it, for example the album OP posted screams depression and nihilism, you can feel the guy who wrote that music felt like shit when he did, and he talks about his own experience in a sincere way.
In break up/death songs the lyrics that get to me the most are the very simple ones that sound like they come straight from the heart. When you start making it overly dramatic with a hundred metaphors it loses its impact to me. Add some overdone lyrics in another language (typically French) and the impact is gone completely.
Maybe you feel differently, and that's fine but I don't like that kind of music. I can appreciate Funeral for its influence but not as a listening experience.

i used to feel similarly, not being able to connect with its dramatism, but yeah over time i just grew into it i suppose? no idea what changed about my perspective
but i agree with >>63932335, zeal is just one of my favorite things to see in any album
>this thread
Is this a new meme?
